What about Bobby Kielty?

The A's have DFA'ed him and he can really mash righties. Might he be the kind of marginal improvement Hendry would be looking to make for the bench right now? Surely it wouldn't cost as much as it would to get a Matt Stairs type guy, and he could fill the Darryl Ward role as the primary PH vs. righties.

I've been a big supporter of Kielty for a few years. He mashes lefties and has a good OBP.

 

However, Kielty cannot help this team much and acquiring him at the present time is kinda pointless.

Oops. I knew I had that backwards. I was looking at the as RHB split instead of vs. RHP. I am not a bright man. However, that probably makes him more attractive given this teams ineptitude vs. lefties.
