interesting. i'm wondering if this means DeRosa can/will play RF with Moore/Fox splitting time at 1B. Fontenot then starts at 2B.

DeRo is scheduled to be off today. We'll se how it plays out for the rest of DLee's suspension.

Hmmm, another interesting move. My guess is along side Fox, Moore is auditioning for a trade.

This auditioning for a trade concept is a bit of a reach in my opinion. Professional scouts know what they're looking for in a player and they're not going to get too caught up in a week-10 day audition for a player in the majors. What if Moore or Fox get really hot for a week--does this mean they're now a big time prospect? I don't believe it happens this way. There's also the potential factor, which scouts see in a player like Pie. Yes, his first test was not a success, but it likely only made a small hit on his rating as a prospect. He's still considered the top offensive prospect in the Cubs system.

Not to mention the fact the Cubs are currently in a pennant race. As much as I like to see guys improve their trade value, I would certainly hope that winning baseball games is the main factor used in determining who gets the call.

Well maybe it is a bit of a reach and pro scouts know these guys and what they think they can do. But if they can fill in nicely on spot duty/bench for a little bit(through injuries), it certainly can't hurt their trade value that the club thought enough of them to call them up. I don't know, just throwing a few thoughts out there.

Well he did say that 1B was his least comfortable position, not sure how much should be read into that.

I think Murton is pretty much trade bait at this point. He doesn't seem to fit into the Cubs plans. I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded in the next few weeks.

Maybe Moore is just up for the rest of Lee's suspension, and when Lee returns on Tuesday Maybe Moore will go back down and Cedeno come up. If Derosa is really uncomfortable at 1B the Cubs may have seen first as a more immediate need for this weekend.

Having a 12-man pitching staff can really hamstring things when you're also playing with a 24-man roster, which in effect they are doing while Lee is serving his suspension.

If DeRosa is off, Moore has to start at 1B or Fox, right?

I'm guessing Moore starts today vs. the RHP, with Pagan in RF (assuming Floyd is out).

I would think that too except we've seen comments made by Hendry/organization regarding how much they value him. (i.e The San Diego Padres interest and iirc the Reds too?) No, unless they are saying that just to make other clubs offer more, I believe they still have long term plans for him. And I also believe they are jerking him around in the meantime.

they are having a "name the cubs 3rd hitter in today's lineup" contest and they said it's surprising. If they already have the lineup, why don't they just release it?

Good to see those numbers from Moore. If I remember right he was hurt during Spring Training and to start the season. It seems that he had a real slow start, possibly due to injuries. He must have been on fire lately.

6 HRS and 13 RBI in the last 6 games I believe.

He's had an OPS over 1.000 since June.

I'll guess JACQUE.

The Cubs are bored with their recent domination. They need a challege...thus Jacque in the 3 spot. I hear Marquis is leading off today.

Evidenced by the fact that every player on Iowa seems to have an OPS over .900 right now.

Stuff is very average, and not much break...but I hear he has great control.
