Scott Moore called up per ESPN1000

Cedeno's clearly not going to get a chance. Might as well trade him.

Knee-jerk much?

Hmmm, another interesting move. My guess is along side Fox, Moore is auditioning for a trade.

This auditioning for a trade concept is a bit of a reach in my opinion. Professional scouts know what they're looking for in a player and they're not going to get too caught up in a week-10 day audition for a player in the majors. What if Moore or Fox get really hot for a week--does this mean they're now a big time prospect? I don't believe it happens this way. There's also the potential factor, which scouts see in a player like Pie. Yes, his first test was not a success, but it likely only made a small hit on his rating as a prospect. He's still considered the top offensive prospect in the Cubs system.

I think Moore got the call because he's replacing a LH bat and he has a power bat.

Yeah, I think we should wait. When our injured players come back I think we will see Cedeno called up.

Cedeno should be up. Not Moore.

This is not a smart decision.

I guess they felt that Derosa can fill in at SS or 2B if need be. They needed a better alternative for backup 3b (if Ramirez needs a rest) and for 1B with Fox. Based on Cedeno's play in Iowa, it does appear that he deserves another chance, but it's just not the right time due to the people who are injured and who are available.

There's a better chance of middle IF depth hurting us this weekend than not having a LH "power" bat hurting us.

What are the odds that Ramirez is going to need rest this weekend? He just had a day off.

DeRo just said on the radio that he has the day off (was suppose to be off yesterday but had to come in because of Ward's injury). He predicts that Fox or Moore will play 1B.

Cubs are trying to set a record for most players on the 25 man roster in a season while still making the playoffs.

Cedeno and Murton need to be up, Fox and Moore can go fly a kite. Ronny and Matt must have peed in Lou's cheerios earlier in the year.

Not to mention the fact the Cubs are currently in a pennant race. As much as I like to see guys improve their trade value, I would certainly hope that winning baseball games is the main factor used in determining who gets the call.

interesting. i'm wondering if this means DeRosa can/will play RF with Moore/Fox splitting time at 1B. Fontenot then starts at 2B.

If Hoffpaiur wasn't DL'd he might be up. Well then we get that messy 40 man thing. Never mind.

I am excited to see Scott get a little bit of a chance. He could be a decent regular and at least will be a solid bat on the bench that could fill in at the corners(did he ever get any time at a COF spot?). It will be nice going into the next few years with having a solid cheap young bench in place. No more macias's, no more Neifi's, no more Lenny's....
