Ted Lilly won his 10th game of the season today. Without looking it up, can anyone name the last Cub left hander to win 10 games in a season?

He was 15-11 that year, his only year as a Cub. He was one of the pitchers that Larry Himes thought could collectively replace Greg Maddux. (I looked it up on Baseball Reference after answering and confirmed it was 1993.)

I haven't heard his name in a long time. He lived a few blocks from my parents' house.

Didn't exactly "earn" that 10th win, but hey, who cares?

It proably makes up for a game where he pitched good and got no run support somewhere along the line.

he only gave up 2 or 3 earned in 5 innings, what's wrong with that?

greg hibbard initially came to my mind. don't know why we didn't sign him longer.
He was never signed by the Cubs in the first place; he was traded to the Cubs by Florida for Gary Scott and Alex Arias (after Florida took him from the White Sox in the expansion draft). He was a free agent after 1993 and signed with Seattle; I don't remember whether the Cubs tried to re-sign him or not. As it turns out not re-signing him was the right move. He was 1-5 with a 6.69 ERA with Seattle in 1994 and never pitched again after that (I'm almost certain he suffered some kind of arm-related injury and was never able to recover).

I was going to guess Steve Trout

Steve "Lake" Trout he was one of my favorites

Rainbow I thought.

You might be right :?

Trout (Rainbow was his nickname) and Moyer both won 10 or more games for the Cubs (two consecutive years for Trout), but they were all before Hibbard. Mulholland won exactly 10 games total in 1999, but it was 6 with the Cubs and 4 with the Braves.

Yes; that's when the Lake Trout references were made.
