Well put me in the camp that's all in favor of the Brewers trading 3 years of Weeks (plus some other useful parts) for 2 months of Dunn.

Given the variance of those #s, kinda hard to draw a conclusion...

can we stop with these proposals of 4 or 5-for-1 deals? You never see them happen

Richie Sexson, Shane Nance and PTBNL to Arizona, Craig Counsell, Junior Spivey, Chad Moeller, Lyle Overbay, Chris Capuano and Jorge De La Rosa To Milwaukee.

Gallagher projects at best as a 3rd or 4th starter, no?

No.

It's not so much that all those guys are super valuable(except Gallagher, who's the best pitching prospect in the system), but including ALL of them at once is a bit much.

Fair enough - that is why I asked.

OK, so what about Gallagher and Soto? Does that get it done? Reds want more?

Considering it's Krivsky, but at the same time other teams are interested in Dunn, I'd start at something like Veal + Petrick with a window to get an extension for Dunn, and work from there.

You going to tell me that's a better deal then the Brewers one too?

If Cedeno was to be included as well, it's absolutely a better deal than the Brewers offer. Weeks may have more upside than Cedeno, but the two pitchers should entice the Reds more than Gwynn and Wise.

Just general comments off of your posts from this thread:

If Cedeno is an AAAA player than so is Weeks. Because I assume he's that way in your book because of success in the minors and then struggling in the majors. Cedeno also had success his first time up but Weeks is a little different with his wrist injuries.

As far as Patterson goes, your rating him against Week's strength. He was supposed to be a 2nd baseman with power. Epatt has different strengths. There's more to the game than one single stat. Actually being a reader most of the time on here, has opened up a new baseball world for me.

I just don't like how you rip down Epatt for not hitting for power and then call Cedeno a AAAA player because he can't stick in the majors. The big difference is in Chicago we can afford to go out and buy a replacement (Derosa) where in Milwaukee they have to draft the replacement.

I hate to stomp the EP fanclub a little bit, but he's 13th in OPS on the Iowa team. 13th. On his own team.

That's not so good.

3 for 6 is different than 5 for 1

It really was more like 6 for 1. Nance and the PTBNL were roster balancing considerations. In the end, AZ might even have taken cash rather than the PTBNL; I can't recall.

well congratulations on finding the one exception. Usually the biggest ticket guys are only netting 1 or 2 prospects in return

Calm down, it's a starting point. And besides, my original point in the thread was that Brewers offer isn't all that great for Dunn, and we should get in on it if it's going to be that low a price.

No worries, I'm just giving you a hard time since you made it an absolute. :)

In reality, you are right, these kinds of dump deals are usually done for a prospect or two, rather than for a slew of prospects.

Personally, I have a hard time seeing the Reds trading Dunn within the division.

Seasons over fellows.

Brewers got Dunn.

Que? How's this known?

Someone that has close relations to the Brewers just said the deal is near official. I think I am going to die inside.

I'll definitely give up on the division chase if true, but I'd rather wait for something more substantial.

This guy is really confident that this is true although he said Gywnn was in tonight's lineup.

Conceding the division if the Brewers get Dunn is ridiculous. It's not like he's ARod or Vlad or something.

I know people love Dunn around here, but c'mon.

They're already 3.5 games up without Dunn. He may not be A-Rod, but he'd still make the lineup significantly better.
