TruffleShuffle: Don't be mad at the brewers for knowing how to scout and develop position players. Some organizations actually are into that sort of thing.

You know he was being sarcastic here, right? He's one of the best guys on that board.

\:D/

Maybe I could win a popularity contest on the Brewers board.

But really, this thread kinda should be made fun of. Even if Braun is arrogant - and I don't know if he is - so what? You can't say that guys like Ramirez, Soriano and Big Z aren't cocky and brash at times. We celebrate when Ramirez hits a ball and watches it for five seconds, but demand that Pujols get drilled when he does the same thing.

Every team in baseball has cocky a-holes, and if they happen to be on a rival team, we dislike them. But really, what I don't like about Braun is that he's raking like crazy. He's not Albert Pujols and he'll come back to earth, but yeah... the reason people don't like him is because he's putting up needed offense for a team that we're chasing and is winning close games.

As posted earlier this year, I envy the way that the Brewers were built. Doug Melvin did a fantastic job of putting together a club with a good, largely homegrown offense and a deep pitching staff. That's why I picked them to win the division this year. Even if we're able to overtake them, they have a team that is built to win for the next five years. I just hope that they don't win 8-)

Nah. Your sig is too big.

Anyways I agree with the brashness on all teams. Personally, I don't see it in Braun. But, then again his name is Braun. Now that's just conceited. Seriously though he hits his homers and goes back to the dugout. I just don't see any arrogance there.

Of all the teams, I find the Brewers the most interesting when it comes to reading up on their prospects. Although, Tampa Bay is up there too. Plus you get some sensationalistic legal trouble news with Tampa.

In my opinion, Cubs fans could only hope that the Cub brass could build a farm system like the Brewers. The Brewers will lose guys to free agency down the road, but they'll have the next guy waiting in the wings to take over.

oh by the way, everyone wave and say hi to brewerfan.net message board! Hey guys!

Weird fishbowl effect isn't it?

I want the Brewers to go back to the American League so I can start rooting for them again.

I know, right? Ship them out to the A.L. West. Plus, it's not fair that we have to beat out a good team to win our division.

But yeah, I have nothing against the Brewers or their fans. Anyone who can stay a loyal fan of a team that's been so pathetic the past 20 years is okay in my book. Hell I root for four pro sports teams that never win championships... it'd be like hating myself.

Exactly. I mean, the nerve of other NL Central teams to try and be decent.

Actually, looking at the general terribleness of the NL Central, the run differentials of AZ and ATL, and the strength of the NL West, I think there's a solid chance that the Cubs and Brewers both make the playoffs. It's probably going to be the Mets, and three of the Dodgers, Padres, Cubs and Brewers.

hey maybe ryan braun is related to eva braun, who was adolf hitler's mistress/wife. And nobody likes Hitler!

I've found a good reason to Boo Ryan Braun!

I bet he doesn't congratulate his non-Aryan teammates, what a tool.

This is one of the coolest threads ever.

What I found particularly interesting was the White Sox-fan-esque 'I can't stand cubs fans' type rhetoric. Other than that, the Brewers message board was cool in it's low-budget 'we're under-appreciated' kind of way.

Also, the part where the one guy says that this board isn't moderated as 'good' as theirs because people make 'bandwagon'/worthless posts. To whoever that person was, I think you are confusing 'moderation' with 'censorship'. That, and there's more than six people posting here so it's somewhat difficult to micromanage everything that happens on the board.

Quality bunch over there though.

I love when people call Cub fans "bandwagoners"... yeah, because it's such a great thing to root for a team that hasn't won a World Series in 100 years. Believe me, people who hopped aboard in 2003 are wishing they found another team to root for.

I like what this guy wrote about the Brewers:

Obviously us making the playoffs is my main hope from this season and actually getting to watch the Brewers in playoff games would be a rush given i hadn't seen once since i was a kid watching the 82 Brewers. We do likely get to watch around 70 games of important baseball the rest of the season,i'm really going to enjoy the ride of daily games that finally matter this late in the season. The caveat of scoreboard and game watching of the Cubs is an added bonus for me.

That's how I feel right now. I mean, the Cubs were in it during the '03 and '04 seasons, as well as '01 and '98, but there also have been a whole lot of years (the last two, for example) where the Cubs were complete dog crap and there was no reason to watch - save to see how the kids played - after May or June. It's fun to have a rooting interest in all these other games around the league, and to keep up with rumors and transactions. I make a point of watching as many games as I can now, or at least checking the score regularly. I love baseball, and the Cubs, and when they're competitive it brings me a lot closer to the game.

Yeah, that's how I feel. I almost completely stopped watching last year out of disgust with how Baker handled the team, and the team's actual performance. I still checked the score, but it was the first time in my life that I was so disgusted with the team that I quit watching. It's nice to be interested again, it even has me posting here somewhat regularly, which is something I haven't done since late in the 04 season.

1) Clutter on the message board: If you subscribe to Premium access, the message board is much cleaner. Hardly any advertising, and much less "wasteful" space.

2) Sig Pics: Premium Users have the option to turn off both signatures and avatars. You can also ignore others that don't share your viewed opinion, so you don't have to deal with those nasty bandwagoners.

3) Moderation: Most of our moderation is done through private messaging. We try to keep moderation out of the public view, because we'd much rather have the conversations be about baseball.

4) Unpopular opinions are welcome here, so sign up and post! Just be respectful of others, otherwise you'll find out just how well this board is moderated.... :D

i don't know about anyone else, but i'm never paying money to subscribe to a brewers message board. i don't think pimping premium to brewers fans will work.
