I can't believe we won with that lineup.

Ward's big day makes me less worried about Lee's suspension.

Good to see Marshall back on track. Hill is the only starter right now that we have to worry about.

4.5 games back!!!!!!

I've really liked Ward in small doses. While I'd never want to see him be anything more than a bench player, it seems like hes been really effective when filling in for people.

I just wanted to throw out there that Jeff Kellogg is an outstanding umpire. his zone is not only consistent, but closer to the rules mandated zone than any umpire I have seen all year.

I thought Logan offered at the bunt attempt and either Izzy or Pagan got hosed on an outside curveball. other than that, I don't think he missed a pitch all game.

Interesting take. I don't know if I've ever heard of anyone pointing out how well an ump does in calling balls and strikes.

You don't notice them until they screw up.

That's exactly how it should be. Umps are there to enforce the rules of the game, not to decide the outcome.

the reason I noticed is I kept getting that sinking feeling in my stomach knowing a pitch was going to be called a strike even though it was not in the zone, then Kellogg not raising his right arm and that feeling going away.

on the other side, I kept saying "c'mon blue!" even though I knew Marshall's pitches weren't strikes.

I thought that they ruled that Logan did offer on that bunt attempt?

I think the only time I've ever heard an announcer praise an umpire was the Cubs/White Sox game at Wrigley Field that was the only one the White Sox won. Hawk and DJ were praising Joe West as a good, consistent umpire when it was blatantly obvious he didn't have a clue as to what he was doing.

nope. Kellogg missing it was understandable because Hill got up out of his crouch. there was an appeal to first, and it was denied, which was absurd.
