I met him twice --- once when I was 12. He politely told me that he had to go (with Sutcliffe) and would not be albe to sign my card. I was just happy to see the guy.

I met him in the Albany Airport following the '05 HoF ceremonies. I asked him if I could get a quick photo or a signature and he said, "sure -- just let me put my stuff down." Before he could get turned around a crowd gathered around him. I got lost in the shuffle, but he was nice enough to tell them -- "wait, I have to sign something for that guy." He was cool -- asked where I was from, etc.

Of course, there was that time at the chidren's hospital when he was roaming the halls and biting the heads off live chickens, but no one wants to talk about that.

he once shot a man in Reno just to watch him die

It must be Ryno week, ESPN.com has a puff piece as well.

Maybe the reason "puff pieces" are written about Ryno is because there is not a lot of bad things that can be said about him (other than the delusional rantings of Cubette of course). He wasn't a selfish player, his teammates loved him, his opponents admired him, his players respect him and he was never suspected of using steroids.

Other than marrying his high school sweetheart who turned into a philandering wench, the guy didn't make a lof of mistakes.

He cheated on his wife. NOT the other way around. Cindy said he was the one who slept around. Cindy is happy to be rid of him.

And we should take Cindy's word about who cheated on whom, why?

Hey, don't forget Rey Sanchez. I hear he was getting some action too.

I think there could be something to the latin-esque mustache Ryno sported in '87 (see my avatar).

Right, the reason the Cubs traded Raffy and Dave Martinez is because Ryno was sleeping with their wives not the other way around.

Cindy Sandberg rode Ryno's coattails to fame and fortune and then dumped him. She was a poor excuse for a wife and mother although evidently she was the most popular person in the Cubs locker room. I wonder why?

As you might be discovering, this board is not very friendly towards posters who make claims without revealing their sources. If you really think it is worth discussing the sordid details of a marriage from so many years ago with anonymous posters on an internet message board, it might be helpful to provide some kind of documentation for your claims, if for instance you read them in a newspaper or magazine article, or, if the source was something other than professional media, by indicating in some other way how you came across this information. Otherwise you will surely continue to be a laughingstock. I would warn you, though, that the evidenciary standards on this board are, in general, rather high, and that Ryno's reputation as a straightforward, standup guy only adds to the difficulties you would face, should you to choose to continue press your point.

Given these difficulties, it is difficult to envision a scenario in which your continued insistance on this point would be interpreted as anything other than surprisingly irrational behavior, since your efforts would in all probability be not only futile but directed towards an objective of apparently minimal value. After all, the opinions of the members of an internet message board about the private, decade-old martial events of public figures are quite meaningless: since they are neither in a position to know what they are talking nor in a position where their opinion should matter, the opinions they happen to have or express about this are little more than the most banal form of trivia.
