If that was bigger, it'd easily be my new desktop background.

Edit: Nevermind. It looks pretty good.

and that "fan" needs to be taken to the jail and put in with the real thugs. let him find out what a real arse beating is all about.

Oh, they definitely took him to jail. What he did is a felony.

Yep. Len mentioned that it's a 3rd degree felony to run on the field like that. He'll be jailed for the night and heavily fined.

Thats right. Illinois changed the law once they had the incident with the BlackSox first base coach. It is a felony. Had forgotten that.

It's a scary thought, but I honestly hope they find a weapon on this guy or something. Just something to put him in more legal trouble than he's already in. (I say that now knowing he didn't make it to Howry) That moron deserves a few weeks in a 8 x 8 with a large lonely man named Bubba.

Just saw it again on CSN. It was seriously a great tackle by the security guard. He tackled the guy right before he got to Howry and got him into a nice rear-naked choke. Solid technique.

Did any of the players try to head the guy off? I know the Rockies hitter was trying to warn Howry, but was anyone on their way to help? Or were they just standing there watching?

It looked like most of them were standing and watching. The Cubs' security did a really good job. Howry just stood there and was like "WTF are you doing?" He didn't look too worried about the situation. The guy was a scrawny guy who was obviously pretty drunk. Didn't look like he posed much of a threat.

I don't think the players noticed, but if they did they weren't running to his defense or anything. I guess they didn't know if he was attacking Howry or just running around. Either Howry had his back turned or he didn't want to fight him. I had my money on Howry. He had just given up some runs and is a large man. But that fan did it all for naught. He got mad at Howry for blowing the lead and the Cubs came back to win.

Yeah, but scrawny guys can still carry knives. After seeing what happened with Monica Seles back in the day, and what happened on the south side a few years ago, I'd be ready for anything out there if I was a player.

And the Fan Graph.

Now *THAT* is the life of a Cub fan!

unless you mean "The cubs will someday win and we'll all keel over, dead by cardiac arrest" I think that's way too many highs for a Cubs fan

you deserve to be raped for speeding.

ok, we're both overreacting.

The guy deserves to be caned, but what you're suggesting is so far beyond the crime it's... well, it's disgusting.

It does go to show the weakness in modern Western criminal systems. we don't have any punishments that satisfy people aside from locking criminals up with people who will beat them up and rape them. apparently that's better than caning.

I just saw the replay and I think Howry would have demolished the guy if he made it to him. He was so small he made Howry look even more like a giant and Bob was basically just standing there waiting for him to get to the mound.

I was at this game. I don't know what else to say. Be jealous. That's all.

yeah, the only time I've seen the cubs win in person was in Pittsburg. In the 80s. I'm jealous of any win
