I don't understand why they'd have to lower the field by 1 foot to ensure an even playing surface. I would think they'd be tearing up what's there, smoothing out the underneath by putting in new dirt or rocks or whatever it is they use and then putting the dirt and grass back over the top. Why does the field need to be lowered?

I love Wrigley, I really do, but that place is a dump in so many ways. I took that tour, and got one of those "accidental" shots of the floor/bottom of a wall as I was putting the camera. away. It is all moldy and nasty. It doesn't look like it's all that well maintained. Any improvements they can make would be great!!!

Tear it down!

Go to hell!

That is the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen on this board. Seriously, it's the grounds fault? Please. There is nothing wrong with the field itself. I've walked on it, run through the diamond (as part of the Wrigley neighbord days) and that is the least of their worries.

Why not tear the whole damn thing down and then rebuild it. Oooowww, lowering the ground 1 foot. Oh boy. That's exciting. NOT.

The field currently is crowned in a way that makes parts of the playing surface impossible to see from the Cubs' dugout. I assume they're going to correct that, as well as install modern drainage systems and perhaps a snow removal grid.

If a player is sitting high up in the dugout (when they sit on the top of the bench), can they see the field better than Lou can? Can Lou get a taller chair or do anything to see the field better?

Sometimes it's tough to read when a poster is being sarcastic.

If that's true, isn't it because the field is uneven and the high places block view of the lower, rather than because the field is too 'high'. Shouldn't the height make no difference as long as it's not too high to physically see over the edge of the dugout?

And I would think adding all that stuff you mentioned would make the field higher and not lower. What am I missing?

You are aware that would cost an extra $500 million, right?

Nah, let's not just improve the quality of the actual playing field while keeping the history and draw of the park intact. That's not exciting enough so it makes no sense.

I didn't think that one was all that difficult to pick up on.
