Actually, he's 18-years old.

He throws a plus FB (mid-90s, from what I've heard) and a breaking ball which has the potential to be a plus pitch. He's 6'4, 180 lbs.

there's nothing special about a 17/18 year od pitching in the DSL

Right, but we're talking about an 18-year old who's first U.S. pro experience will be in the NWL.

Per the Smokies broadcast, Josh Kroeger and Geoffrey Jones have been promoted to AAA Iowa - Colvin will be replacing Kroeger at AA.

Tennessee wins 4-2 and the pen was dominant (Petrick and Blevins).

Petrick's last 10 outings... 15.2 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 23 K. I still have some hope for him.

I really hope he can find his way back into the rotation.

you think he profiles better as a starter? or you just want him to get more innings? I've been really impressed with his work as a reliever; maybe that's the best place for him, especially given his health history.

It really depends on how well his slider and change progress - if they have come along well enough and health isn't an issue as we close in on two years since his surgery - he'd be more valuable as a starter.

:) - The Daytona game is at a good time for me tonight.

WELE isn't carrying the first game, though.

His sinker doesn't seem as strong as it used to be either. He's still about 1.24 GB/FB this year, but he was a guy who could put up a 3 in that category. I think the further he gets removed from surgery, the more value he would have as a starter also. He was a poor man's Brandon Webb before. With a power sinker like he had/has, his secondary pitches don't need to be great, just serviceable. However, if he's gonna be a reliever, he'd be a good fit there too. As a reliever, he could be ML ready very soon.

This must be the first game I've got on - it says WELE on my MILB.com window.

Jake Muyco has quite the rate of pickoffs, from the sound of it.

Didn't think of trying via MiLB.com. I just went to WELE's web site. Good call.

As you know, I listen to quite a bit of minors baseball, and I tend to do it that way (though Sportsjuice is quite good, too)

2nd and 3rd with nobody out for the Cubs.

2-1 on a wild pitch - Cubs have two out now (feels like the big league team) and hadn't advanced the runners.

In to the bottom of the 7th (Its a seven inning game). Still 2-1. I've sent another e-mail in. I'm an addict.
