With the Cubs standing and recent play, I don't see how Hendry could trade Z at this time. The Brewers are the only other contender in this division, and with their recent snide, means the Cubs are legitimate NL Central contenders.

I am taking the stance that a healthy Cub team can win this particular division in 2007 even without Zambrano.

I feel there is higher probability that Z's best years are behind him rather than in front of him.

So, I am all for trading him to the Angels as BBB suggested.

The Angels are 7 deep (at least) with quality pitching. I doubt that they would give up a premium prospect for anything other then an impact bat. They haven't dealt young players before, why would they deal them now for a possible rental pitcher that, frankly, wouldn't be as good as their #4 pitcher right now. While I would love to see any of the Angels' prospects on the Cubs, they won't deal for a position of strength. Rather a more likely scenario is for them to deal a pitcher like Escobar for an impact bat. Realistically, more team would take Escobar before Z right now.

Jones in Anaheim would have been an option prior to Willits' play but now they are set in OF and at DH (although they would like to upgrade DH).

Jones to the Mets makes the most sense right now for either a bad contract (Mota?) or a no name A prospect.

Z would be an option for the Yankees.

I had to get in on this. Z is going to be a 100 million dollar man. He's a guy thats been to two All-Star games before by 25. Should be three. Plus he a pitcher. A deal would have to include Reyes at the bare minimum.

i'm on board with any argument that cites number of all-star game appearances.

Not that I'm advocating using All-Star game appearances to measure how good a pitcher is but at least the fans don't vote on which pitchers go so it at least makes it more legitimate.
