Soriano let me down in the 1st.

Soriano made a stellar play in extras.

Both times the team made stellar plays defensively, they bent over in their half.

Jones sucked.

Ron Santo probably had a heart attack.

Aram looked terrible in that last at bat.

Yeah, this story seems awfully familiar. Just like that 15 inning Padres game a few weeks ago.

Losing this game by 1, really made that failed chance in the first hurt. Now go ahead, misconstrue that.

stop bringing it up

Well give me a break here. Every time I tried to end it, I was continually beaten over the head with it. So I owe you guys one. And by the way. Losing by one also made ALOT of the other things hurt. This one's not just on Soriano. That post was just me "correcting" the way I should have said it in the first place. Ok?

No, it made the failed chance in the 8th hurt.

Please see above post. It also made MANY things hurt. I'm not hanging this all on Soriano.

My run ends at 5-1.

Hopefully, I don't start another game thread the rest of the year... or, at least, not until the playoffs.

OK..so i just got home from the bar watching this game..where do i begin?? How many times have we had guys on 2nd or 3rd with no outs or 1 out and fail to bring the guy in??? SICKENING... Dumpster blows it in the 9th...I feel like breaking a TV after watching this game.. one of the games that has made me most pissed off in a while...I serisouly dont care if your Soriano or DLee anymore and your not paid to bunt. Our big guys, DLee,Aram, and Dlee have blown it how many times for with RISP with 1 or no outs...Bunt him over or do the sacrifice, becuase this is freakin discusting when our top 3 guys cant get a freakin runner in from 2nd or 3rd with 1 or less outs..All the money theyre worth..whatever..just get us the damn run in and the game.

JockStrap tonight played one of the worst ballgames I have ever seen a major leaguer play. Pathetic. Please trade this bum ASAP Jim.

You've obviously forgotten who Ronny Cedeno is.

Cedeno's had his fair share of games, but Jones played absolutely abysmal out there. Probably the worst "performance" we've had from a position player this season.

Yes Jones was bad today but he can't touch a couple of Cedeno's performances.

April 17 vs SD, 0-5, 2 K's

April 22 vs STL, 0-5, 3 K's.

Cedeno looks like he's never had a bat in his hands before when he's up at the plate.

Yeah, that's how I feel. You can't get a hit all the time ofcourse. But it would be NICE if one of the big guys, could get a big hit. And they each had 1 or 2 good chances to end it.

Yeah, those are both awful games. But a key DP in a big spot in the 8th and a huge error (at the time) in extras was pretty bad as well. Not to mention the failed H&R and you have an awful game.

All of them had a chance and blew it...They either K, Or pull a Jones and hit into the worst possible DP scenerio..Or DLee and Aram had chances to be stars and hit shallow popups or weak grounders..Right now I dont care if theyre big money guys and are not suposed to get the guy over/bunt..But Ive seen to many men in scoring position with 1 or no outs and they screw up numerous times.. its time for them to lay down a bunt or just take a easy swing to the opposite field to advence the runner just for the next guy to make contact to bring them in because obviously its to hard for them to do

The hit and run is Lou's fault. There was no reason to make that call with Barrett running. The double play was just bad luck that he hit it right at the first baseman. If that ball gets through, you're singing a different tune right now. Or even if the first baseman makes an error on the play (whether fielding or throwing home) and Lee scores. Cedeno striking out and just looking lost at the plate doesn't even allow for that to happen.

EDIT: And I'm sure Cedeno came up in big spots in both of those games - which the Cubs lost both of - and didn't come through either.

I still can't figure out why Lou called that. Jones racks up plenty of strikeouts as it is and that was a pitch he couldn't do anything with. The best result he could have gotten with that pitch was a foul ball out of play; that's pretty much it.

I'm concerned with Lou's style of managing. While I don't think he's as prone to stupid and head-scratching decisions as previous managers, I think he tries too hard to micromanage the game. Part of this might have to do with a lack of familiarity with his players' strengths and weaknesses, which is understandable, but if this trend continues, I won't be too happy with it.

I'm sorry guys, its my fault. Run my losing streak to 9 in a row. Take out a second mortgage. I"m going to the game on thursday and I think it'd be wise to bet all your money on the Pirates.

How about this, all three games were horrendous and we leave it at that?

I could understand it with Lee batting because you can be fairly certain he's going to make contact if you need him to. But not Jacque.

i watched the rest of this at work, and i really think this may have been the worst major league baseball game i have ever seen. Not because of the result, but because of the incompetence and idiocy of the players on the field.

Cubs had so many chances to win way before that call. That call didn't lose the game, not even close. We could've played another 9 innings and not score. We just couldn't get a big hit when needed.

i fell asleep in the 11th, woke up just in time to see Soriano K in the 14th, then went to bed for good. Glad I didn't force myself to watch

I don't have a hit-and-run sign, and I believe it's the worst play in baseball.
