From the 9th inning on, the Cubs were simply awful. Everyone swinging for the fences -- no one just trying to get on base and make something happen.

Only the Cubs can be so adept at snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory.

It's been real guys. The game thread run ends. :x

I should have muted the TV. I hate the FSN Pitt announcers.

Agreed. They need to try harder to convince themselves that DLee is a crappy player

Isn't this team supposed to be able to hit homers? How many games is it now that ONE homer would have taken care of a win? PATHETIC

Yep. So soriano's failed tag up was the losing run. .

Or how about having men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs in the bottom of the 8th and failing to score?

Hard to blame the pitching for that one 2 runs in 7 innings for Lilly, 2 runs in 8 innings for the pen.

Offense wasn't patient at all today, and that cost them baserunning opportunities. Issues were compounded by overaggressive managerial decisions, running into extra outs when they couldn't be afforded.

Well boys, tip your hat and (insert numerous excuses here). Such and such was tough tonight. The Pirates executed well and all that. Same crap again.

Yea, Ryan Dempster completely sucking in the 9th had nothing to do with it. Or Jacque Jones being beyond useless in the 8th.

The pitching sucked late, regardless of the amount of runs they gave up. They were in jams in just about every inning. Eventually, it's going to catch up to you.

Maybe, but I didn't start watching until the 8th.

Runners at 2nd and 3rd, no outs. Murton pops up to 2nd base. One out. Next guy was walked or hit by pitch or something. Bases loaded, 1 out. Jones, inning ending double play. Yeah, I was livid. Edited by Justin

Soriano's failed run STILL was the losing run. So where many other bases loaded and men on third opportunities. But point is, He scores that, we win. Just pointing out that, when you don't take the runs you are given. THIS can happen.

Or the fact that Soriano drove in the third run or threw a guy out at home in extras. This one is all on Soriano, folks.
