I said other. Specifically, the fact that several of the pitching prospects (not just Hill) got an extended taste of the majors. Even though Hill is the only one to produce at the major league level so far, I think the experience will help Guzman, Marshall, and Marmol in the long run as well.

2006 was a terrible season... but it had its moments.

Starting off with Michael Barrett's grand slam, and the sweep of the Cards.

To Juan Pierre's catch of the potential Barry Bonds HR.

To a ball bouncing off Ramirez's head.

And of course, the departure of Dusty really tops things off.

i think it is Rich Hill and not even close. I'm pretty sure Dusty wouldn't have been brought back even if the Cubs won 75 games

Tough call. I can't say it's the money thing, since the payroll is barely any higher than it was, and they've been spending big for many years.

OBP was exposed as a weakness long ago, but Hendry didn't exactly solve it anyway, so not sure how this helps.

The Hill thing was good. But I have to say Dusty. Hendry loved Dusty and wanted to bring him back. He was pretty much forced to get rid of him because of the disaster, and that allowed some dominoes to start falling, even if all the problems haven't been solved.

The Wood/ Prior farewell tour. Although the club overspent on mediocrity to replace them, at least they have abandoned the "Let's hope for the best" mentality.
