Casey McGehee was sent down to AA Tennessee and is now listed as a catcher on the Smokies roster.

So now they have four?

Only three: Fox, Robinson and McGehee.

Ahh, found it. Tony Richie was promoted to Iowa.

Is EPatt having a good year this year? Haven't heard much about him since we signed DeRosa.

Hasn't had a great year on defense, but has had a solid year on offense. Without looking at the stats, his average is close to .300. He has a pair of homers. One weakness on offense is that he has had his fair share of K's.

Tennessee wins 1-0, Veal gets his first AA win.
He's putting things together now. A fairly good start last time and a great start tonight. I think he's making the adjustment to AA.

Curtis’ Blast Trumps Garcia's Hot Bat

By: Dan Watson

[TAMPA, FL] The Daytona Cubs played it by the percentages Saturday night at Legends Field. Colin Curtis took those percentages and threw them out the window, pounding a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to propel the Tampa Yankees to a 6-3 win.

Curtis came into the game batting just .217 against left-handed pitching. Those numbers stood up in the sixth, when Cubs southpaw Scott Koerber struck Curtis out. In the home half of the eighth, the two tangled again. This time, Curtis slammed a 2-1 pitch out of the ballpark to give the Yankees the winning margin.

Tampa (14-15) jumped on top with a two-out rally in the bottom of the first. Jose Tabata and Juan Miranda ripped back-to-back doubles off Cubs starter Todd Blackford to put the Yankees in front, 1-0.

The Cubs (15-14) tied it up in the next half-inning with some two-out hitting of their own. Robinson Chirinos yanked a two-out double down the left-field line, then Alberto Garcia drilled an RBI single into left field to tie the score at a run apiece.

From there, Blackford held the Yankees silent until the fifth. Francisco Cervelli doubled to start the rally, and a Kevin Russo RBI single put Tampa back in front, 2-1. After Russo stole second, Reggie Corona laced a double to right, plating Russo and giving the Yankees a 3-1 lead.

Daytona came right back in the top of the sixth. Leadoff man Chris Amador smashed a double over the head of a drawn-in Yankee center fielder. Amador stole third and then scored on Tyler Colvin’s RBI groundout to cut the Tampa lead to 3-2.

The Cubs tied it at 3-3 in the top of the eighth. Colvin doubled off the wall in right-center, then scored when Jesus Valdez followed with an RBI single.

The Yankees landed the knockout punch in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Juan Miranda smoked a triple. Koerber intentionally walked Edwar Gonzalez to set up a double-play situation and a lefty-lefty matchup with Curtis. Curtis responded by launching a 2-1 pitch out of the yard to stake the Yankees to a 6-3 advantage.

Daytona threatened again in the top of the ninth, as they brought the tying run to the plate with one out. But Tampa closer Eric Wordekemper induced a game-ending double play to preserve the win.

Cubs infielder Alberto Garcia’s hot hitting continued, going 4-for-4 with four singles. In the last three games, Garcia has terrorized the opposition, going 9-for-11 at the plate.

Tampa reliever Wilkins Arias (2-0) picked up the victory on the mound as Wordekemper notched his eighth save. Koerber (2-1) absorbed his first loss of the season.

PeoriaChiefs.com[/url]"]Chiefs Bats Remain Quiet

Fort Wayne, IN – The Peoria Chiefs offense continued its season long struggle Saturday afternoon managing just three hits in a 3-2 loss to the Fort Wayne Wizards. While the Chiefs are still above .500 at 14-12, the offense is 12th in the 14 team MWL in both hitting and runs scored.

The Chiefs wasted little time in getting on the board against Wizards starter Stephen Farris. With two outs in the first, Alfred Joseph was hit by a pitch and Russ Canzler reached on an infield single. After the single, the Wizards forgot to call time as they met on the mound and Joseph moved up to an uncovered third base. Josh Lansford gave Peoria a 1-0 lead with a sharp single to left.

Fort Wayne took the lead in the second inning thanks to a small strike zone. With all borderline pitches called balls, Chiefs starter Jose Ceda walked five in the inning, including two with the bases loaded. Four of the five walks came on full-count pitches. Fort Wayne added a third run on a wild pitch and led 3-1 after two innings.

Peoria picked up an unearned run in the third. Matt Camp reached on an error by shortstop Jesus Lopez and moved to second on a groundout. After stealing third, Camp scored on a wild pitch from Faris to cut the lead to 3-2.

Peoria didn’t collect a hit after the fourth inning but still had chances to tie the game late. In the eighth, Dylan Johnston led off with a walk, stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. But he was stranded when Lansford bounced out to third. In the ninth, Jim Adduci led off with a walk before Yusuf Carter lined to right. Adduci stole second as DJ Lewis struck out, but Wellington Castillo few out to center to end the game.

Ceda (2-2) takes the loss despite allowing just one hit. The 20-year old walked a career high six and didn’t get out of the sixth inning.

Gorman’s Pub Player of the game: Jeremy Papelbon & Chuckie Platt (RP) –The two relievers combined for 6 1/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. The duo struck out three and allowed just two hits.

Notes… This series features former teammates and good friends Ryne Sandberg and Wizards Manager Doug Dascenzo in a head to head matchup…Chiefs starters had not allowed an earned run in 19 straight innings until Ceda gave up a run in the second inning

what's the story on papelbon? What kind of stuff? What's his ceiling? His probable career track should he make the bigs?

Mid-80s FB, relies on deception and good command. He could be a solid big league reliever.
