John Dewan says the Cubs are projected number two best team in the NL +21 (after the Mets). If they keep up the pace the Cubs will win 93 games.

.600 winning pct.

Who's John Dewan?

President of Baseball Info Solutions and CardsFanInChiTown's life partner.

Inside joke or you trying to tell us something?

All I know is that Jacque Jones in CF would be a disaster. Rivers would start flowing backwards, cats would grow feathers, and the sun would implode. There's no way Jacque Jones can play CF in the big leagues.

We'll trade LaRock for DLee.

No thanks. But we'll take Bay for Izturis.

And Jones.

No Nefi?

We have plenty of over-priced middle relievers. We'll throw in one.

Ramirez and Barrett have really cooled off just as Jones, Soriano and Floyd woke up from their slumber.

Context:

It was suggested last year, before the signing of Soriano, that the best way to maximize Jacque's value would be to move him to CF, a position he played in the past until being moved to RF for Torii Hunter.

Michael's argument was that Jacque Jones rated poorly as a RF in Dewan's Fielding Bible, so it would be disastrous to move him to CF.

The counterargument was that his offense would outweigh any defensive range problems, which were probably overstated anyway as Dewan's park factor calculations are skewed by the odd shape of the Metrodome's RF wall.

I'd rather have Pie than Jacque in CF, but Jacque's numbers - current or projected - look a whole lot better in CF than in RF.
