I've been on NSBB for a few years.. but I missed the "Izturis driving in runs with his glove" joke. What's the deal with that?

The Pirates announcers said they were glad to see Itzuris in there...because Theriot was in last nights lineup and the Pirates pitchers kept walking him.

Can't believe I forgot about that one. That's horrible!

 

Yeah, that's pretty much my defense when somebody tells me somebody must be a good defender cause they've won a gold glove. That singular event is more than enough to destroy the credibility of the award entirely.

I haven't been here all that long, but I think it's just reference to the old school baseball thinking that a player can be completely inept on offense and still be an asset to the team, hence "driving in runs with his glove."
