ST. LOUIS -- Bob Howry was much improved Saturday after being held out of Friday's game because of a back injury sustained while moving a barbeque grill on his patio.

While it wasn't as strange as Kerry Wood's hot tub injury during spring training, Howry's incident still merits a mention on the all-time list of bizarre Cubs injuries.

Has the reliever learned a valuable lesson?

"Yeah, next time instead of moving it, I might just wheel it," he said. "I didn't want to take the cover off to use the wheels, so I just picked it up."

Howry threw off flat ground Saturday and said he's OK to pitch. Manager Lou Piniella is more concerned about his trio of left-handers than Howry's health.

This makes more sense now. Howry has not allowed runs in his last 2 outings and 6 out of his last 7-when he wasn't even warming up for the 8th inning the other night, the speculation was that he lost his job. That didn't make much sense though, because he had part of the 8th and 9th on Monday, and he hadn't allowed a run since then. The fact that he was unavailable for that game clears up that little bit of confusion.

so far Cubs have been taken out by a hot tub and a grill... .what's next?

Remlinger got taken out by a folding chair awhile back.

if we're going back to past year, we got z and his computer habits.
