With his slow start, I'm worried fans are going to start getting on Soriano's play by booing and heckling.

He's only batting .211 and doesn't have a HR or even an RBI. His struggles are not specific to hitting though, as he has been picked off twice and his bad read on a fly ball today contributed to the huge, lead-changing inning for the Reds.

Booing Soriano won't do anything to improve his play, yet I'm afraid some fans will negatively react anyway out of impatience. If booing occurs, I'll be so embarrassed.

Jones got Booed and look at the year he had. Didn't seem to make him any worse. Calling names and racial slurs is unaccepted. But booing, I don't care. Go right ahead.

The best thing to happen is piniella has a tantrum in the dugout today and the fans boo the team taking the feild with a loud long boo until the first out is recorded.

Booing sounds so much cooler from a crowd than everyone yelling their favorite expletives.

Fans have a right to vent their frustrations and voice their displeasure. I think it's typically in poor taste to boo an otherwise decent performer for a short-lived cold streak, but I won't look down on 30,000 people for doing it when Ohman can't throw strikes to the only 2 people he faces.

he deserves to be booed. so does jim hendry.

It's not Soriano's fault Jim Hendry shoved an ill-advised contract for $136 mil under his nose. You or I would sign it just as fast as he did.

The problem lies with Jim Hendry and his inability to distinguish an excellent ballplayer from a career year... or indeed, even his inability to distinguish an excellent ballplayer from Juan Pierre or Jacque Jones.

Seeing as how it is Jim Hendry's job to put a product in front of the paying fans that they want to see, he would be unable to do so without knowing what the fans want.

Booing is simply a conduit for expressing your displeasure with the team or a particular player. It is certainly not the most effective way to express an opinion, but I certainly don't begrudge anyone for it.

Let's boo a guy who has played two whole weeks who has 5 doubles in 9 games. I know he's not hitting well, but it's been 9 games, and I have no doubt that he'll come around. Everyone needs to calm down. I know I've overreacted too, but it's 9 games. You think Lee would get booed if he went into a 10 game slump? Booing a quality player who is slumping is ridiculous.

That said, I have no problem booing Izturis or Ohman. ;)

Booing is stupid. Yeah, it's frustrating when the Cubs play like they have been recently, but what does booing do? Are you really so limited that you can't figure out another way to vent your frustration other than to sound like a white-trash parent at a high school basketball game?

I'm more for a collective boo against the whole team, because of the ways they've lost ball games these last four days. Maybe it will wake them up.

id boo soriano because hes not producing. im a [expletive]. i should be able to take out my rants on him, his paycheck is large enough for him to not care.

You have been around long enough to know NSBB message board policies. I really don't care how much you rant, but if you intend to do so, you must still abide by the rules of this board. If you have forgotten those rules and policies, a link can be found in my signature.

I thank you in advance for showing more respect to this community.

Do you honestly think players are like "I'm hitting .200 and we're 10 gb in the division, but it's okay because I'm not getting booed?" I know I don't.
