I think you are right about Zetterburg. Sorry I was probably wrong. I remember them making a big deal after the Stanley Cup about adding him to the team the next year. I can't remember who else was on the 2 kids and a goat line then. Maybe Boyd Deveroix. I will look it up.

This is the first year that it has really been Zetterburg, Datsyuk and Lidstrom leading the team. Yzerman, Shanahan and Lidstrom have been the leaders in the last few years. I still think Chelios probably has a lot of pull also.

I will still say that most of the criticism for this years team sounds more like Barry Melrose than people who have objectively watched them. Most of there games have been announced by either CBC(with an obvious Canadian slant) or NBC(with Ed Olcycz being obviously anti-Red Wings). Truthfully I didnt get to watch a lot of Anehiem. The only thing that I see that Dallas, San Jose or Vancouver are doing better than the Wings is maybe goaltending.

I thought The 2 kids and a goat line was Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Hull?

I think it was in 02-03. The year they won the Stanley Cup I think it was someone else besides Zetterburg as jaydee had pointed out. I looked up Zetterburgs career numbers and his rookie season was 02-03. So it had to be someone else in 01-02.

I just googled it. It was originally Datsyuk-Hull-Deveraux but Zetterberg later replaced Deveraux.

I guessed Deveraux in a earlier post, well except I misspelled his name.

Nucks advance.

on a related note, the Las Vegas Wranglers (local ECHL team) lost their 18 game win streak with a loss in game 2 of the second round today. The 18 wins ties a professional record.

2nd round predictions.

Sabres over Rangers in 5. No contest

Sens over Devils in 6 This should really be a great series. Hard to pick against the Devils in the playoffs

Ducks over Canucks in 6 I know I predicted the Canucks to beat the Ducks earlier but I was mildly angry at a post and may have said things I out of haste. Luongo could steal series but doubt it

Wings over Sharks in 7 Again this should be a great series. Sharks dominated in reg season. Contrary to Barry Melrose the Wings played real well in first round. Both teams have playoff demons.

Rangers/Sabres get their series going in a bit. If you can't tell from the sig...I'm cheering for the Rangers.

Ducks/Nucks gets underway tonight. Part of me wants the Nucks to win because I hate the Ducks. The other part of me wants the Ducks to win because I would love to see a Ducks/Sharks WCF.

Sharks won. I usually catch the third period of their games for whatever reason...when they get a lead they absolutely stifle the opponent.

Senators/Devils was the most entertaining game I've seen in these playoffs. Senators won.

Sharks just really make it hard if they get the lead. They made a great play on the pp, got kind of a lucky goal for the second and then made every pass or shot the Wings took very difficult. I thought the game was mostly even except for special teams. Wing have to improve in this area or they will lose the series.

I thought NJ was going to complete the comeback, but Ottawa was just able to hang on. I think that's going to end up being a great series.

So I have watched both of the first 2 games of the Western Conference playoffs. It is very clear that Anehiem and San Jose are the 2 most talented teams. If either team was to be traded with the Wings during the Reg season they would easily have been the #1 seed.

That being said contrary to some earlier posts, it is these 2 teams that dont have a lot of grit or passion. San Jose really came out with some early in both games but than just coasted on talent. This very similar to what I seen last year in their loss to Edmonton.

Anehiem played game 2 like they were on cruise contol. If they didnt have home ice advantage this wouldnt have been as big of a deal. They let Vancouver steal one on the road and also the momentum.
