can the cubs do anything with the reds pen?

You're assuming that with 113 pitches they'll pull Harang. They didn't pull him with 97 pitches...or with 103.

If he is not laboring, why pull him? Although 113 is getting up there.

the reds are willing to go up there and make the pitcher dig himself into a hole, the cubs aren't. not that harang would, anyway. apparently he's become cy harang since the beginning of last season. we get cy arroyo on wednesday, right?

that'll probably be a goose egg.

come on cotts, set em down 1-2-3.

Does it matter? I highly doubt we score 4 in two innings while holding them down...

Because you have a 4 run lead, and it's opening day? Why stretch your #1 pitcher on opening day? Maybe have him refreshed for the next game?

To help out the rest of the division?

So, that means Arroyo will get two HRs off Lilly, right?

But the first 4 innings they really made him work.

It's hard to do that when Harang is throwing nothing but strikes

If he is not having to work hard I would think 113 shouldn't be that bad. Especially if they are going to give him an extra day off with the extra days off in the beginning of the season.

Sportsline is saying there's nobody up in the Reds pen....

And now there is. Saarloos.

At least we're not sending Gopher Ball Glendon out there against him this year though.
