He sure did 'murder' the Cubs offense in the NLCS in '03.

When Urbina faced Sammy in game 1, I told the 40 half Cubs fans/half Marlins fans watching the game with me that if Urbina didn't throw an inner half fastball, Sammy would strike out. The first inner half fastball he threw would be deposited on Waveland. Sure enough, 3 pitches later it became reality :D

That was a sweet HR. I just vaguely remember later in the series when they got back to Wrigley, Urbina finished an inning and gave a death stare to whoever it was he had just gotten out. He seemed a little mentally unstable. Seems his last few years in Venezuela haven't been to good for him. Gun charges, mother being kidnapped, then this. I wonder if the sentence will stick?

I wonder about that too. You know he'll appeal and money can do wonders! My sister-in-law is from Brazil and says that the police/justice system is screwed up and full of corruption. I don't know if that means he can "buy" his way out, or what. It will be interested to see what happens.

Hah, yeah. I seriously wouldn't be surprised if the next headline I read involving Urbina went something like this:

"ARMED BANDITS BREAK URBINA OUT OF PRISON: Signed as set-up man for White Sox."

Was the Sosa homer off of Urbina in the 9th the one that almost hit the camera in left-center?

No, I believe that was game 2. Sosa's homer in game one was to left-a long shot into the mass of people that were standing on Waveland.

Honestly, if he really did try to kill 5 people (which i have no idea if it true or not), then 14 years is a gift.

In an American prison, yes. In a South American prison? I'm not so sure. Anything goes over there. (I'm half-joking)

This is absolutely shocking though

You mean "BANDITOS"

I can just seem them now. Machetes in hand, ammunition belts slung over each shoulder even though they don't have gun, cigars in their mouths, plaid flannel shirts torn off at the shoulders being worn open chested, jorts, and flip-flops. No doubt one younger member of the gang will be wearing a 1993 "BUFFALO BILLS SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS" tshirt.

... wait, are you describing Banditos or St. Louis Cardinals fans?
