Maybe they told him not to throw it to keep him healthy. Looks like he can make them miss without it.

 

A changeup is not hard on your arm. Not much different from a fastball except for the grip.

 

Not like a curve or slider that you have to "cut".

 

Fair enough. He must have lost confidence in it--in games at least.

I still haven't seen many changeups from Guzman, which is supposed to be a plus pitch for him. Wonder why he's not throwing it very often.

 

Could be keeping it in his back pocket for when it counts. Also a change up is better the second time through the order when they have already seen the fastball.

Guzman had trouble finishing Frandsen.

 

Can't fault Guzman there. That was a good pitch. Frandsen was just able to muscle that pitch into short left.
