+1 Vote from the st. louis area.

If only I could pull off the same kind of upset in a poll like that over here...

:::sigh:::

4 votes from me. Unfortunately I can't talk any of the cardinal fans down here to vote for the Cubs even if it's against the Astros.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem...

Mid day count has the Astros back in front.

Link.

The Houston Astros have retaken the lead in the ongoing Your Home Team runoff, which ends at noon Friday.

The Astros garnered 59 votes overnight, while Chicago received 36.

That puts the three-day total for Houston at 275. Chicago stands at 269.

That doesn't include the ones dropped off during the 11:00 hour, I'm sure. I think we'll move ahead again at the five o'clock count. But to be safe, be prepared to get us some more votes!

+5 So far today. I've used my 3 emails, and made up 2 more. I'm working on more, I hope to get about 50-100 new emails by tomorrow.

Vance ... you are amazing!

I just sent out an email here at work to get some more votes.

Mike,

You're local right? Print out the document on the front page and circulate it to the people you know who don't care about baseball. I've had amazing luck getting them signed. Then drop them off at the News-Star.

I actually got a reply from one of my emails to the paper, so I thought I would share. I sent an email saying that they botched the original voting, and that the Cubs should rightfully be named the Hometown Baseball team, here was Nick's response:

Care to vote? Or are you just going to complain about something that is supposed to be a fun spring time poll?

Nick

Fun spring time poll, or rigged poll?

Their laissez faire attitude toward corruption in a media source is irresponsible and frankly a little bit disturbing.

The reply doesn't even make sense either.

That's the first I've heard of them replying. Interesting....

Well, and let me add...I think Nick has taken some grief over it. I think he wants it to be all in fun and give them something to write about. On the other hand, I do think he has some resentment over the "methods" we've used to get votes.

I also think he's had to deal with some ribbing within the office. The smirk I get at the front desk when I drop off votes tells me that there's some there that think what we're doing is a little funny.

I wonder if they've gotten suspicious of some of my votes yet? Just some of the emails I've made up so far are biggioblows@gmail.com, lidge_is_a_loser@gmail.com, carloslee_is_a_bust@hotmail.com, this_poll_is_rigged@yahoo.com, and the_rocket_has_crashed@fastmail.fm.

Well...judging by the gain from 5:00pm yesterday to noon, I think some emails are being tossed.

But keep them coming nonetheless.

I can't really feel that bad for the dude. When you leave something open to the internet are you really allowed to be surprised by anything?

That is true. I think it's a catch-21 for them. They really believe that the Astros should win. They could limit the way people vote, but I think they also like reporting on the number of votes because it makes people believe that there is a lot of interest in it.

so which one was the response sent to?

It was actually sent to one of my main email addresses- cowboys_fan_31@sbcglobal.net.

Ah ok.

I think it's pretty funny.

My advice on emails at this point is make the short and simple.

What I suggest is making them appear to come from LSU or Saints fans. Those are less likely to be discounted.

TigerFan2345 or something like Iloveduece...or the like.
