Did anything happen to Derrek Lee?

Word was that he tweaked his groin very slightly on an awkward slide into second. He could have continued playing, but there was no point in taking any risk in a ST game, so he left after the 2nd inning. He'll be fine, though.

I was just getting ready to ask that myself.

He slid into a base ackwardly. It was a minor tweek but they didn't want to chance it.

Blanco's injury many be worse (at least it looked worse).

Maddux skipped his start today, against the white sox, with an abdominal strain.

"I think it occurred on one of his last pitches on his previous outing," Black said. "I think he'll be able to make his next start. We felt as though he was close to making this start. It's probably playable during the season, but why push it March 12?"

Maddux's last start was against the Cubs on Thursday.

He was hit in the knee with a foul ball. He doubled over in pain immediately after it happened but stayed to complete the inning. He left the game afterwards.
