I don't think they will be able to get out of this contract considering the allegations are about HGH from 2004.

While the Angels are publicly taking a wait-and-see approach to the allegations tying Matthews to an Alabama pharmacy accused of selling HGH over the Internet, team officials are also said to have been examining the language in Matthews' contract to gauge their chances for recourse should the allegations prove correct.

That was a terrible contract regardless of whether he juiced to get it or not. The Angels are probably stuck with this one as it's unlikely anything will ever be proven legally.

Don't know who the Angels GM is, but I'd like to introduce him to a definition.

Career Year: Noun; The term used in baseball to denote a baseball season in which a baseball player's performance level both far exceeds previous levels, and is unlikely to be repeated.

For that matter, maybe we should introduce Hendry to this one also.

Holy misused apostrophes!

thank god someone said it

Give him a break, he's a newbie.

A newbie with a really high post count I might add.

LOL, I like to post...

Thanks for the support but newbie or not it was incorrect. The mistake was really nothing more than a lack of proof reading; my mom is an English professor, and she taught me to write, but sometimes I get lazy.

Aren't the apostrophes in "Matthews'" being used incorrectly? I thought it was only on a plural posessive that you didn't include an 's' at the end, but when the subject actually ends in an 's,' you do. Have I been wrong all these years?

i.e.

The boys' bags were lost. (plural subject)

vs.

Gary Matthews's contract is a joke. (singular subject that ends in 's')

EDIT - I've looked it up, and, apparently, informally, people generally don't use the extra 's' if it's awkward in conversation/pronunciation. I don't like that answer. I want the formal rules, damnit!

No, you're not wrong.
