They should have had a most fun guys to watch on defense instead. I remember watching Clemente throw a Cub runner out at third in Chicago and Clemente was still in Pittsburg.

Wow, I thought it couldnt get more meaningless than the actual gold glove.

 

But is it more meaningless than the Holiday Inn Look Again Award? That debate might never end.

 

Since the gold glove is equal parts reputation and popularity, it should be a rule that you can only vote for people that you've never seen play.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised to not see Brad Ausmus and Mike Matheny on the list. Those two are/were always talked about as being good defensive catchers (party because they couldn't hit). I'm curious to know how much consideration Charles Johnson got for the list. He had four Gold Gloves, a rocket arm, and he had a full season where he had no errors and only one passed ball.
