If Z, Prior and Hill all pitch around their potential, then yes I'd say the rotation can be devistating

Definitely.

I find myself really hoping that Guzman can take Marquis spot eventually to be a solid #5 in that scenario. Reminds me of 2003 and how I wanted Cruz to have Estes's spot before ST even started.

Does Guzman really even have that potential anymore after all the injuries and whatnot? He did show some good stuff at times last year but overall I've kinda been considering him an afterthough in the Cubs rotational plans.

Reports are that he got his command and his curveball back over the winter. Fleita likes what he's been seeing.

The plot thickens. When was the last time we saw this much confidence in our rotation's health/stuff?

And his change should have improved too, you could tell he was rusty and feeling his way back last season.

That K/BB ratio in Venezuela was sexy.

2005, right before it all went to [expletive]

Cubs.com is reporting that Wade Miller is fully healthy also, and feels like he is throwing the ball the best he has thrown it in 2+ years.

Definitely. The fact that he pitched however many innings in winterball, though, probably can't bode well for his chances to be an effective starter for most or all of this season, can it?

OK this is too much Spring time optimism for me

okay, making the huge assumption that everyone is healthy and able to pitch well, just what in the fark do you do with all these starters? 8 man rotation!

Assuming everyone is healthy?

Z, Prior, Hill, Lilly, Gooz

I like.

They aren't going to pay Marquis $7million to not be in the rotation. Like it or not, it's just reality

I'm saying what should be done in the situation you presented. Not what will be done. Big difference, especially when talking about the Cubs.

I'm not so sure about that. I believe when Lou says that he's going to have the top 5 guys in the rotation.

If Prior returns to 2004-2005 form, we have an excellent shot at the division.

Zambrano, Prior, Lilly, Hill, Marquis/Miller would give us one of the best rotations in the league.

Soriano, DeRosa, Lee, Ramirez, Jones, Murton/Floyd, Barrett, Izturis would be on par with most offenses.

While this team can win without Prior, Prior pitching well makes this team enormously better.

Please be healthy and good this year, Mark.

Nah, Derwood is right. Marquis is going to have to impressively crap the bed for a good amount of time for him to get knocked out of the rotation.

And if Prior returns to 2003 form? Best team in the NL? Probably.

It's pretty crazy how big of an x-factor Mark is, but he would instantly make our rotation tons better.

I hate to even think about a healthy Prior on the mound for us but jeez if he can be healthy..this time would be amazing.

If Prior is healthy, we run away with this division. Please baseball Gods just give us one healthy year! PLEASE!!!
