Names back on Home Uniforms?

I wish they'd lose those awful, weekend softball team-looking blue jerseys over any other uniform change. Those things are almost as bad as the pajamas from the early 80's.

 

I know Z loves them, but he looks so much more awesomer in pinstripes.

 

What!? Those jerseys ARE the Cubs. To me, the pinstripes have always been "the alternatives" (and fugly ones at that). .

 

You're completely, utterly and totally wrong three different times in that statement, and on as many levels as is humanly possibly, plus a few made up just for kicks.

 

The Blue's look awesome. The Pinstripes look so simple and basic. Mean it's basically just WHITE with tiny teeny little blue stripes on it. What is the Cubs color? BLUE. Therefore I feel the home uni's should be mostly BLUE, not mostly WHITE. So there!! :P The blue's just look so awesome. .

It will probably never happen, but I think the whites would look awesome without pinstripes. That way you can make them look old school and current at the same time(the Giants are an okay example of this). You'd need to add some accent blue probably(end of the sleeves, on the edges of the button-up flap), but I think it would look pretty awesome.

It is my biased opinion that the Cubs are lucky enough to have one of the best alternate uniforms in baseball in the blues, although I dare not say they surpass Oakland's green togs.

 

It is also my biased opinion that the pinstripes are awesome - I can't think of one uniform I like better, and certainly not in the NL. In my ideal universe, we'd always wear the pinstripes at home (unless Z is pitching) and always wear the blues on the road.

So many differing oppinions. I take it the "stripes" are main, and the "blue's" are alternative right?

 

I just personally like the blues alot. Something about when you are the home team, you get to have the "bright colorful" uni while the visiting team has to have a dull drab (usually mainly grey outfit) color. Like most teams, red, orange, blue, ect. . The Cubs are a "blue" team. And I like the dark striking blue shirts. Not that the stripes are ugly (I didn't mean it mojo) :wink: .

If they could put the gray ones through a bit of a redesign I might like them more. However it's not all that likely. I just think gray is a terrible, terrible uniform color.

 

Agreed as well. I have two Cubs jerseys, one pinstripe and one blue and love both of them. I don't prefer one over the other.

 

But I can't stand seeing the gray uniforms and would never even think about buying a gray uniform for myself or even asking for one as a gift.

Heh, good catch.

 

I really hate all the various solid color jerseys a la the Cubs' blues that other teams have. They seem so amateur and straight out of the 80's. Let them die. I'll always love the pinstripes, but I think the new-ish uniforms the Reds just unveiled look pretty good. Much better ideas than "here's a single mass of garish color on your upper body that basically looks like a t-shirt."

The Blue Jerseys aren ot "beyond reproach" or "fugly", they are nice jersey. I like the blue jersey, and the Cubs blue jersey is CERTAINLY better then the crap that the D'Backs have.

 

I wouldn't mind the Cubs if they lose the pinstripes. Go back to the traditional all white unis with the logo, like they used to wear back in the early part of the 1900s.

i like all the jerseys though the blues with gray road pants dont look that good

Let's sum it up (my sum at least):

 

Name's on Home Pinnies = Boo, but understand that it's all about $$ and jersey sales. However, like coach said in college "ya play for the name on the front, not the name on the back".

 

Road Gray's = Very cool. If I'm buying a jersey, this is the one.

 

Blue's = Boo. Very 12 inch softball-esqe.

I'm the same way. I'm indifferent to the players wearing them, but in terms of which jerseys look best with what I wear, the grays win out by a landslide.
