Jerry Hairston Re-signs with Rangers

After missing out on trying to land Loretta, it looks like the Rangers have re-upped with Jerry Hairston.

According to MLB.com, this is a minor league deal.

The Rangers have signed utilityman Jerry Hairston to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training.

I always did like the way he dragged his toes while trotting to 1st base after drawing walks. Oh, and the way he used to lay out for routine fly-balls in the outfield.

I don't see how he doesn't make that team, unless he is horrible in the spring. At the least, he provides versatilty to take over DeRosa's role of last year, before he became the starting RF.

He did an interview on XM talking about the signing saying that the GM and manager called him trying to convince him to come back and that the major factor in his deciding to come back was that they told him he'd get a large amount of playing time. LOL they never said anything about it beng a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.
