From Day One, the Cubs said they got Soriano to play right. I believe it will stay that way.

So would Jones play center or platoon with Murton?

How much does Pie impress this spring?

I hope to god they don't try jones in center. I can't see that working despite having some experience there. Are there no teams interested in Jones? I would think that somebody out there would want him. Heck, his home town of San Diego is going to go with termel sledge in Left field, isn't trading for Jones a better option?

I read somewhere when Jones played center he had above average range, good feilding percentage, and a # of outfeild assists. I don't see why it would be such a disaster to put Jones in Center as almost everybody here seems to be suggesting. .

Is that a rhetorical question? :-k

A Murton/Jones, Pie, Soriano OF sure would be interesting.

I ask these questions and Cubs people remind me the season doesn't start for almost three more months. As of now, and this could change, it appears that Jones will play center and there will be a Murton/somebody time-share (not necessarily platoon) in left. But one trade or one injury between now and April 2 changes the whole picture.

Does Pie control his own destiny to some extent this spring?

Yes, he does. I don't see him opening the season with the big club, but it isn't out of the question.

I guess we should cheer for a Floyd signing then. Floyd shouldn't gobble up too much of Murton's at bats since he's an injury waiting to happen. I'd actually like to see Jones play center and maybe give Pagan some starts against LH pitchers. Floyd could rest Lee at 1b occasionally. If Floyd hurts himself sometime during the season and Pie is doing well in AAA, Jones or Pie could split some time with Murton or rotate the 3 somehow.

I would have preferred Huff because he can play some 3b and 1b as well as the outfield.

In that case we should cheer for a Juan Gonzalez signing. Or a Griffey trade.

Floyd probably won't cost much considering he may not pass a physical. But, he's still pretty scary with a bat when he's healthy.

Do you forsee DLee's wrist impeding his play/swing in any way this season?

No, from everything I hear, he'll be fine. He got through the difficulties with healing last year.

Excellent news. A monsterous D-Lee is essential for this lineup.
