Hey Guys.. currently I have this to keep, and am WAY under in Points. I'd like to get a big bat that someone doesn't plan on keeping. I can take on a couple hundred more points, and will package someone like Lidge with a minor leaguer to get another pitcher or a bat.

1b Konerko 534

ss H. Ramirez Exempt

3b A. Ramirez 561.2

of Ordonez 473.2

of Markakis Exempt

of Kubel Exempt

u Chavez 396

p Young Exempt

p Colon 72.5

p Wang Exempt

2285.2

I'm STILL willing to make any offer for the following players, or even one of my above mentioned keepers. I have a couple players that could be real sleepers next year in Chavez and Colon that could get someone potential without a lot of points....

Kubel- Exempt,

Dan Johnson- Exempt

Brian Bannister- Exempt

Tabata, Casto, Adenhardt, Nippert, Gonzalez, Romero - Minors

Ibanez- 569.2

Crede- 435.5

I'll probably end up with the following keepers, unless something changes by way of trades:

1B, David Ortiz (687.8)

2B, Brandon Phillips (? Exemption)

3B, Alex Rodriguez (561.2)

OF, Jeff Francouer (2nd Exemption)

SP, Barry Zito (467.7)

SP, Dontrelle Willis (500.3)

SP, Daniel Cabrera (3rd Exemption)

SP, John Maine (Minors)

RP, Tom Gordon (252.2)

Total = 2469

That leaves me needing a C, SS, U, 3 OF's, 1 SP, and 2 RP's. Safe to say, I'll be drafting and/or looking to trade for outfielders.

how is phillips exempt (let alone for the first time)? he had 370 ab's with the indians in 2003.

He never came off my minor league roster since I took him in the Minors draft.

You are correct about 2003, but this would make his 3rd exemption, correct ? He had < 200 ab in each year after except last year.

Posted
That's my understanding too. I believe his three exemptions would have been following the 2002, 2003, and 2004 seasons, since he did play some at the major league level each year. I believe that a year counts toward the three exemptions if a player plays at the major league level at all.

After digging through the rules, I think you guys are right. Once a player has 200 ML AB, then his cap exemption clock starts. So, he had 370 AB in 2003. His 3rd exemption would have been going into LAST season. He never came off my Minor League roster until this season and I had forgotten he even played in the Majors in 2003.

Juan, is the above correct ?

How about zero at-bats, but 1 plate appearance (like Adam Greenburg)? :D

I think Greenberg was discussed once before. I believe PA is the accurate measure rather than AB.
I'm positive that was the case. I didn't intend for my question to be taken seriously, hence the use of the smiley icon.

I made my final roster cuts today. It really pained me to cut loose Ethier and Murton in favor of old man Sheffield, but neither of those guys looks to have a full time role in 2007. Murt will be sharing time with Floyd and Ethier will be battling Kemp and others for PT in right for the Dodgers. Why they signed Luis Gonzalez is beyond me.

Anyway, I updated the first post in this thread with the final keeper roster for my team.

Now all of you slackers make your cuts so we can have a definite answer on who is available for the draft that we need to track this spring!

My final move to make my roster legal was to release Barrett's sparring partner. :D

I also decided to cut ties with McPherson, even though he's minor league eligible. He's expected to miss most, if not all, of 2007 with back surgery, and between Tracy and Marte I should be in good shape at third for the next few years.
