Meche in a landslide. Lilly pretty much sucks.

:?:

Lilly isn't very good ... Meche impressed me alot more and I have seen both pitch at least 5-7 times last year

gee goony, i'm flattered

on a more serious note, I'd take Meche

Awww...get a room....

8-) just kidding.

Meche is more talented, and Lilly is less crappy. I'd take Angel Guzman and Sean Marshall.

who's going to pitch the 200 innings that those two miss this year?

I rather the Cubs keep the money, and wait till the deadline, instead of getting impatient and overpaying for medocre talent.

1) The Cubs may well be out of it by the deadline, meaning they'd be less inclined to make a trade

2) The price (in terms of prospects) can often go up at trade deadline time, because so many teams are trying to improve themselves.

And the Cubs have just as much as being out of the race with Lilly and/or Meche. The difference, the Cubs wouldn't have the crappy contracts in the rotations, and the Cubs would be given guys like Gallagher/Veal/Guzman/Marmol a chance to prove they belong.

I didn't say make a trade, I say wait till the deadline (when better pitchers are available) before deciding the rotation needs upgrade.

Young, cheap talented pitchers are BETTER then overpaid, mediocre talented pitchers.

Meche. NL change, younger and good stuff.

Z, Meche, Hill, Prior/Miller, Guzman/Marmol/Mateo/Cotts combos will be okay. Get Church, then either keep Jones or trade him plus Izturis, a mid reliever and a couple of prospects for a Tejada or someone . Then we're set.

Ugh, this is like choosing between herpes and gonorrhea. But I guess if I had to pick, I'd want Lilly.

is he herpes or gonorrhea?

Watching sombody write Meche into the #2 spot in the rotation made me vomit in my mouth a little bit.

Meche is a decent #5 or a bad #4. He's not a #2 and never will be.

Because he's not that good?

Why do you say that?

Nothing in his record indicates a certain predisposition to being the recipient of miracles?

Well, I have a hard time seeing that a guy who has been below average for 4 years all of a sudden becomes a very good pitcher. Call me crazy.

Again, that is a really poor answer.

What would answer it? He's not good, he's never been good, and the chances for him to ever be good are very slim.

Clement.

(alright, yeah, he was only three full years, but the two are roughly the same age and Meche is supposed to be more talented)

Clement is actually a fair comparison. I didn't realize that.

Kind of nice to have a player work out in an acquisition, even if it is at the cost of Dontrelle Willis...

I didn't realize how bad he was pre and post Cubs.
