Huge kudos to the voting process.

The right man won.......very strange but true........can't actually believe that the general populace didn't sway this vote to the more "marquee" .....player......hhahahahahahaaaa

So, the only reason I've seen that this is a good pick is because people don't like Jeter, the Yankees, or both.

I don't get it. Morneau didn't have a bad season, but by all comprehensive metrics, Jeter was better.

The voters have in two consecutive days screwed the pooch.

VORP

Jeter- 80.5

Morneau- 52.0

It's not even close.

Come on Vance.....even u know that VORP is skewed as a metric in this case......but I do agree some Yankee-hatred factored into the vote.....however as an impartial observer Morneau was statistically better then Jeter

In what way? Jeter was better in runs created and win shares. If you only think in terms of power numbers, then maybe, but there's more to creating runs than just hitting home runs. If that's the case, there were much better choices than Morneau.

Wait, how is VORP skewed in this case? It's supposed to factor in position played. That's why Jeter is >>>> Morneau. It's really not close.

I respectfully disagree.....VORP does not take into account line-up and/or line-up changes.....the fact remains that Morneau has a Production Factor of 28% vs. Jeters 23%.....what position said player plays in this case is irrelevant......just my opinion and of course I could be wrong.

I didn't even know Morneau would be in the running.

Pretty surprising.

The NY media wanted Jeter to win, and I hate the NY media so that makes me feel good. And boy are they crying about this one 8)

The espn radio sportscenter updates keep including lines like "I guess this wasn't good enough" and then they play a clip of Jeter doing something. One time the update guy lead the story about Morneau with "maybe they should write in a rule that number 2 hitters aren't eligible.

I think it's hysterical when people get their panties in a bunch of mvp, cy young, hall of fame, ROY etc type awards. They are meaningless. I don't care who wins. But I do like seeing Yankeephiles cry.
