Don't think this has been posted:

I know some people would support a Barret for Wells trade:

Quiet so far, the Angels are lurking with the intent of making a splash. They would love to sign Barry Zito and then send Ervin Santana and other young players to the Blue Jays for center fielder Vernon Wells or to the Devil Rays for left fielder Carl Crawford.

Santana AND others for Wells?

The reason I as this is because if Barrett is worth Wells. Or simply, if the Blue Jays would want him. And the Angels would give up Santana and others for Wells, I could envision a three way that might work out nicely.

Wells to Anaheim

Barrett and one prospect from Cubs(Marshall?) and one from Anahiem (?) o Toronto

Santana and other (?) to Chicago

Throw some other prospects around if needed to complete.

If the other was say a good young catcher (Anahiem has two on the 40 man) it could work out nicely. Mathis or Napoli are the two young catchers. Napoli looks a little better, but Mathis looks pretty good himself. Would they be willing to part with one?

I'm not trying to actively trade Barrett, but it would be selling high, he only has one year left on hi contract, and he could either decline rapidly or do well and be expensive to keep. If we could get a nice young pitcher and replacement at catcher...

Ervin Santana and "others" for Wells has been discussed for some time.

Really? I must have missed that.

Sounds like a bad trade to me.

Well. I think it has at least. Not 100% sure, but that's about what I remember hearing. I know I heard that package for someone.

I really couldn't understand those sentences, and will gladly chalk it up to the early morning wake-up factor based on when you submitted your post. It would be helpful if you could clarify...

i wouldnt mind this trade at all... but i would hope we dont give up anymore..

Barrett is more valuable at C than Vernon is at CF. Besides, there's still a chance the Cubs can sign Drew and we wouldn't have to give up Barrett.

i'm not a huge wells fan. he'll have to improve his isod before he'd be worth any kind of package.

he can keep his IsoD right where it is for 5.5M. I wouldn't re-up him for huge money without an improvement in IsoD, but he's about as good of a value in an offensive player as you can find in baseball right now.

Bush League Stat.

no it's not. it loses alot of meaning if the player consistently puts up an astronomical batting average, but it's not a bush league stat for most players in baseball.

So isod has no value to it. If you can't use it for everyplayer, then why use it at all.

He didn't say you can't use if for every player.

Just because I dont use the International Society of Orbital Disorder stat doesn't mean I don't understand baseball.

Agreed, so long as it isn't Barrett (why downgrade from above average offense at one position which is harder to get, it's just a lateral move) i'd love to have Vernon Wells.

But if the price is already up to Ervin Santana, no thanks. I wouldn't even think about topping that with Hill.

If we could put together a bigger package, do it. Dempster plus Eyre would be my starting offer.
