Know what you mean. I reload the Transactions page 1000x a day hoping to see the title of the Drew thread changed to something like "ESPN Reports Cubs make offer to Drew!"

Wishful thinking, I know. Maybe I'd settle for Soriano.

I like Drew more, but if we can get production out of Soriano like last year, I'd be ecstatic.

Ahh, we referred to it as o-chem. Fun times.

Considering we refer to physical chemistry as p chem, it would make sense to call it o chem. Oh well, we're weird.

We refer to Political Science as "Poli Sci", but History is just History. Can't really shorten that too much.

Golly, I need sleep. :|

O Chem should be referred to as pain: The kind that feels like an ice pick stabbed right through the center of one's ear...and lasting 16 weeks straight. Sometimes it's good to be old...

I admit it's nice that there always seems to be a new post almost every minute. But wouldn't just listening to sports radio be a little easier, and quicker? Lord knows it would be easier on the tendonitis.

I'm totally not surprised to hear Jimbo won't be outbid for Soriano. He's desperate to save his job and CF is the last open position. If he doesn't get Soriano or Drew he should start packing his bags.

Ken Rosenthal has some interesting things to say about the Cubs...

NAPLES, Fla. - The Cubs, the most aggressive club at the general managers' meetings, are just getting started.

The team's ideal blueprint, according to new manager Lou Piniella, includes the addition of two more hitters and two starting pitchers.

The Cubs might not accomplish all that, but they've already added free-agent infielder Mark DeRosa and re-signed third baseman Aramis Ramirez and right-hander Kerry Wood for a combined $89.5 million.

If they signed free agent Alfonso Soriano, their No. 1 target, to play center, they likely would add a lesser outfield bat to alternate with Jacque Jones and Matt Murton.

Soriano figures to cost at least $90 million. A free-agent starting pitcher such as Ted Lilly or Gil Meche also will be expensive. The Cubs plan to trade for a second starter.

Perhaps the most fascinating development in the aftermath of the DeRosa signing is that the Cubs continue to pursue free agent Julio Lugo, whom they envision batting leadoff and possibly moving to center field, according to major-league sources.

Lugo, a shortstop for most of his career, probably would fit with the Cubs only if the team failed to land Soriano. He has played just one game in center, but he's a terrific athlete and high-energy player who was a favorite of Piniella's with the Devil Rays.

The Cubs also could trade shortstop Cesar Izturis, perhaps to the Red Sox, to create a spot for Lugo. Izturis, however, is valued for his defense - he won a Gold Glove in 2004 and was an All-Star in '05.

DeRosa will be the Cubs' regular at second and occasionally fill in at other positions; he turned down a chance to be the Giants' starting third baseman to sign with the Cubs, according to a source with knowledge of his offers.

For the love of God, please get it done.

Theo took heat for letting Orlando go, and Izturis could be construed as a poor man's Orlando Cabrera. I guess they'd do this only if Alex G was asking for ridiculous money.
