With Hendry looking at Westbrook/Lee, Meche, Lilly, Bautista, etc., I wonder if he is looking at a blockbuster trade. With Derosa signed, it looks like Izturis (wishful thinking) or Cedeno is expendable along with most of last years young pitching (Marshall, Mateo, Ryu, Marmol, Guzman, etc.). Depending on the trade partner, we've kicked around the idea of JJones, Barrett, Novoa, Dempster, and Eyre. I would like to hold onto Howry, Ohman, and Wuertz though. It looks to like Hendry could put together a pretty attractive package depending on the other club's needs.

I think it was Ken Rosenthal, who said last night after the DeRosa signing that the Cubs looked like they were trying to package a young pitcher, either Cedeno or Theriot and Jacque Jones to get a corner OF with power.

Something does seem up.

I am assuming a pretty large trade (in terms of number of players) will happen sometime this offseason. No idea what it'll look like though.

unlikely to happen until the Winter Meetings (which are when? Early December?)

''I love our infield,'' Hendry said. ''You have two Gold Glove winners [in Lee and Izturis], a great player at third base and a guy here who is a quality, quality player.''

That doesn't sound like someone that's going to trade Izturis to me.

If his name is Miguel Cabrera I'll be a happy camper.

At the same time, he could be attempting to boost Izturis' trade value.

I was thinking Burrell, but they don't really need a middle infielder. Boston for Manny?

Yes please. Do you think Hendry has it in him? He does seem WELL motivated this year.

I'm going to lunch now.

When I come back, I fully expect that Hendry will have done something really, really dumb.

Cabrera could always go back to LF. But I wouldn't be unhappy in the least the Manny.

Hendry would be in the driving seat for manny. the more $$ Hendry is willing to take the less in players it will cost.

Money really dosen't seem to be an issue this year either. Maybe, just maybe they ARE serious about the WS.

That doesn't sound like someone that's going to trade Izturis to me.

Why tip his hand? If anything it can be construed as talking up Izzy for a potential trade.

Right, GM's don't say "We really want to trade this guy because he sucks and we hate him."

It would be fun if somebody did.

Well...our GM does. Or has been known to. Lets hope he has lived and learned from that.
