Question: Does the fact that Florida probably should've lost to SC (at home) result in a poll drop, or does that only happen when ND's opponents play them tough?

Drop how much though? AP Top 15:

1. O$U

2. scUM

3. Louisville

4. Texas

5. Auburn

6. Florida

7. USC

8. Cal

9. ND

10. WVU

11. Arkansas

12. LSU

13. Tennessee

14. Boise St

15. Rutgers

so Louisville, Auburn, Cal all drop. Arkansas needs to jump up if they win this. I dunno... does USC deserve to jump Florida if they beat Oregon? I don't think so - they've had their share of close games against unranked opponents. ND? They should've lost to Moo. WVU? They haven't shown they can beat a good team, their defense is questionable, as is their ability to pass. Arkansas should've lost at home to Alabama, at least if Alabama had a kicker. I dunno if Florida should move down just because their close win came today and not last month.

Yeah, I think they might have dropped actual spots in the polls had everybody won. But with 2 teams ahead of them losing they aren't going to drop actual spots. I wouldn't be surprised to see USC pass Florida but that would still put Florida at #5 meaning they would actually move up.

Felix Jones is also a beast.

TOUCHDOWN MCFADDEN.

This has the makings of a rout.

not many teams have an All American for a backup RB :)

Warpt, are you from Arkansas?

They get leeway because they've beaten someone good.

Technically, if Tennessee loses tonight, the two teams best wins will be about the same.

ND beat Georgia Tech, who has only 1 L since that game. ND also crushed Penn State, who played O$U tough and is pretty good in their own right. Purdue's going to a bowl game. Navy's going to a bowl game (obviously not on the same level as the previous ones but worth mentioning).

Florida has two wins over currently ranked teams (@Tenn and LSU). ND has one (@GT), but their wins over Penn State and Purdue are more impressive than any of Florida's remaining wins. The Gators, like ND, have looked sluggish against a couple of lesser opponents (@Vandy, SC vs UCLA, @MSU).

The two teams are more similar than you can admit.

can anyone stop the Hogs?

that, they did. . . . however, it wasn't the same Hog team. McFadden was 50% and we had a crappy QB. I'd love to see a USC / Arkansas rematch.

is there some unwritten rule that there has to be two SEC teams in the top 6? why all this talk about Arkansas leap frogging anybody?

ND, seriously kwitchurbeliakin. again, I am a fan, but do you honestly think your season has been any more impressive than say WV, Wisconsin or Wake? the Irish have made many an undeserved leapfrog in their day and the only reason they are where they are at right now is how severly over-ranked they were going into the season.

Because if they win out, they're in the national title discussion. That's where it all stemmed. Nobody's talking about them going to #6 after the polls tomorrow, although with USC/Oregon still pending and three top 10 teams losing already, #7 is a possibility.

Wisconsin should move way up, too.

Arkansas has the same argument as the rest of the 1 loss teams. They've played better and better each week and have a couple good wins.

If they're able to run the table (W's over Tenn, LSU, Florida) a National Title berth wouldn't be out of the question or unwarranted.

Arkansas only has one loss on the year and, you could use the reverse argument for them that you used for ND. They are only ranked #11 right now because they started the year unranked and got hammered by USC in their first game. They have a solid team though and I think we'll have a better idea after tonight's game with Tennessee is over.

Unless USC runs the table.

Actually, I did bring up the possibility of Arkansas jumping ND for #6 with a big victory today.

no argument there. It won't be easy for either team to run the table.

My fear is that Texas will win out, get in the NC game, and get their butts handed to them.

"should have lost"s, however, aren't losses.

so what? why shouldn't the quality of win influence somebody's subjective opinion.

seems you want it both ways too. you want everyone to forget about the loss to SC and excuse it for injuries. injuries are no excuse. if you were really a good team you would have overcome it. isn't that what usually goes hand in hand with "should have losts are losses"?

Sorry to ruin the good teams conversation, but Dorrell and Co. opened up the playbook for a 50-yard PA bomb. UCLA takes the 13-7 lead.

I cannot believe UCLA threw a pass longer than 5 yards.

It's still hard to argue with a 50-14 beatdown at home. Plus, McFadden and the QB don't play defense.

hehe. I ranted at you because I was p'd the Hogs leapfrogged my Badgers. now I come back to see you defending them, so I feel bad.

still, should have losts should be considered when these guys vote.

No, but the three-and-out-fest left the defense on the field for far too long. It was a competitive game at the half that got out of hand because the defense was worn out and the offense had absolutely nothing.
