Both sides are trying to work on a contract to keep Biggio in Houston, but it seems they are not close.

Biggio, who received a one-year, $4 million extension on the final day of the 2005 season, is without a contract for 2007 as the free-agent filing period approaches. The Astros have offered a raise from last year but haven't been able to work out the deal.

"Our expectations are different from his expectations," general manager Tim Purpura said. "We've offered what we think is a pretty fair number, and so far they don't agree."

Isn't he like 40 hits short of 3000? They will find a way to keep him.

What are his grit, fire and hustle ratings?

I've heard they're not quite at Eckstein's level, but they're still quite good. Probably much higher than anybody on the Cubs.

I think he has a good chance to win "Comeback White Player of the Year" next year.

Fixed.
