Cubs outfielder Felix Pie is trying for the third season in a row to establish himself as the regular center fielder for Licey. Pie is hitting .310/.326/.381 with ten RBI, but has walked just once in 42 at-bats. Cubs' roving hitting instructor Von Joshua was sent to the country to work exclusively with Pie during the early part of the winter season.

Felix Pie: 13/45, .289/.319/.356/.685, 1 HBP, 1 BB, 8 K, 2/2 SB

This from Cubs.com dated 11-03-06...

CF Felix Pie: Pie is 7-for-12 in six games for the Tigres del Licey, but he has not seen action since Oct. 25.

Either Marc Jimenez doesn't know how to do research or CR is just making this all up.

Psh...if I was making it up, Felix would have more HRs and BBs.

Licey won 3-2, box:

CF F. Pie 0/3, K (9)

Overall: 13/48, .271/.300/.333/.633, 1 HBP, 1 BB, 9 K, 2/2 SB

Estrellas lost 4-2 but Licey.com doesn't have the other box scores so I don't know if Jose Reyes played.

Is Pie worn out or what? Don't like those numbers at all....

The BB/K numbers are atrocious and his numbers are a byproduct of that. He was in a 1/12 and 5/23 slumps before today - that's not long enough to necessarly think he's just worn out.

Pie is quickly becoming a non-prospect, IMO. Future impact players do not spin their wheels in the minors, no matter the level and no matter the age. He may be a big leaguer eventually, but he's no future superstar.

Cubs should try and extract what remaining value he has in trade THIS WINTER.

He's 21. He'd have to spin his wheels for another 2-3 seasons to question his status as a prospect. His ceiling may be coming down some, but it's still a very solid everyday major leaguer.

Look at Hanley Ramirez's last year in the minors. He was floundering in AA at 23.

Well, it looks like Jose Reyes has gotten into some games that licey.com hasn't posted box scores for over the past week.

His current stats going into today:

8/29, .276/.276/.414/.690, 1 2B, 1 HR, 0 BB, 2 K

His "remaining" value is quite high, I have no problem with the Cubs trading him if they get fair value.

But the rest of your post is wrong.

Producing numbers-wise in the minors isn't the best way to evaluate prospects.

Yeah, that's my point.

alot of guys work on specific things in winter ball right? So should we or shouldn't we be concerned with his stats? I like his stolen bases 3 for 3 but it seems like he forgot to work on that walking thing.
