Bloomberg says sightseeing trip, circled Statue of Liberty.

*SR-22 model holds 4 people, but only two on board, both DOA

*Nobody in building was injured seriously

Passengers:

One was flight instructor, one was student with about 25 hours flying experience. Not sure why they veered off route.

*composite plane, so most parts burned up, not too much damage to building

Like everyone else, I'm completely stunned. I heard about the plane crash when it happened, but I can't believe it was Cory Lidle who died.

RIP Cory. Thoughts and prayers to his family :(

*Not sure who was actually flying plane

*No reason at all to beleive that this has anything to do with terrorists

The bodies were found on the street.

I couldn't do any job that required finding bodies on the street. My brother in law is a PA State Trooper and I'm sure he's seen his share of bad things in highway crashes, etc. Glad there are braver people than I to do this.

Mike and Maddog feel "terrible" about giving Cory Lidle a hard time a couple days ago.

Had this not happened, they wouldn't have felt bad at all of course. They are only saying "the right thing" right now. Odds are they'll be right back into the A-Rod bashing, etc. in a few minutes

Tragic. My heart goes out to his family.

Some are speculating suicide. Now, with that in mind, let me preface this question by saying I mean NO disrespect. I am only curious.

Was he the pitcher that was reported earlier this year who hit his wife?

Again, I mean absolutely no disrespect to Lidle himself or his family. I am only curious.

No, Brett Myers.

I think that was a different Phillies pitcher, Brett Meyers.

Terrible, terrible way to go. I feel bad for his family...

RIP Cory...

edit: there is no "e" in Cory it appears.

For some reason I went over to the Dugout to see if they had used Lidle in any embarassing way. He only appears in a Phillies Spring Training episode ("LidleHands")

Someone on WSCR just asked how long until ARod would be blamed, ie "If ARod had played like a $25m player, they'd still be in the playoffs, and Lidle would be alive".

Sadly, I can see some moron saying that.

If it was a mechanical issue, it may have been inevitable anyway.

Yeah, that's something ARod would love to hear, I can't imagine what it feels like to have people proclaim this type of crap about you.

This is sad as it is with any death in an accident. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I agree. I have a hard enough time getting routine shots from doctors. The last thing I want to see is a dead body on a street.

I'm at work so I can't access cable TV, how is ESPN covering this? I'm sure it will be on 24/7 since it was a Yankee player. If Lidle played for anyone besides the Yankees or the Red Sox this would hardly get mentioned.
