isn't z due for a horrible arm injury? i'd be scared to put a long term investment worth that much money towards him.

I would think so also. Would it be wise to demand a King's Ransom before this occurs?

Couldn't you say that about most SP though? It's risky, sure, but I'd do it.

It's not like he's ever complained about arm trouble besides cramps. I'd be more worried about his back then his arm.

most starting pitchers don't rank really high on pitcher abuse points, though.

yes, that's true. i'm curious to see how Lou will handle him (and the other SP). it's a risk, but one i'd take.

they could also try to negotiate a deal mid-season after seeing how he responds in the first half or something. however, hendry has been hesitant to negotiate mid-season, iirc.

i think it's funny that some people assumed ramirez would ditch the cubs the second he could so he could so he could take his lazy, hustleless baseball to the west coast where he could loaf for seven guaranteed years while basking in the warm california sun, while zambrano just bleeds cubbie blue to the point where he'd chain himself to wrigley field and play for peanuts.

Aramis' comments yesterday really should have bought him some goodwill from the fanbase. He really showed a commitment to this team.

If he wants goodwill, then he should show his committment by offering to pay for some of Zambrano's contract. Otherwise he's just a lazy fat jerk.

Not only should he pay some of it, he should sprint at full speed from his car to the bank door, shift his feet hyperactively as the teller prepares the certified check, and then speed all the way back to Wrigley, hustle up the stairs and dive in JH's office as he sets the check on the desk.
