I hope Freddie Bynum was doinking someone and is about to be shipped off.

Maybe it's why Neifi is gone?

Fast Freddie Bynum was doinking Neifi? Dang, now if he could just start doing Blanco, Mabry, Pierre, himself, Pagan........

Maybe it is just what it sounds like to me - a lot of personal issues coming up in the lives of players.

I know that when I was going through a broken engagement, my performance at work decreased substantially. In fact, I went from the best performer in the office to worst that year. It was enough of an effort just to make it through one day at a time; everything else (including my statistics and $ raised) became secondary, or even pointless.

But I'm getting verklemped... talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic: Rhode Island is neither a road nor an island. Discuss! There, I'm feeling better now.

Please don't give this idea too much credit. Dusty sucks, the players suck, Hendry sucks, MacPhail suck, the Cubs suck. This recent article is just more proof of excuse making and not taking responsibility. It's from the TRIBUNE correct?

It's just ANOTHER one of a tirelesa amount of planted articles from this orginazations blaming EVERYthing else on this living planet except the truth. They suck!!

Unreported stuff that has gone in the personal lives, suggests to me it's got nothing to do with hate mail or management calling out Prior.

Maybe Cindy Sandberg came back. Maybe Prior's wife is sleeping around and he's depressed. Maybe Nevin's just talking out his butt.

I'm sorry, I don't understand the Cindy Sandberg reference. Please explain. I wasn't living in Chicago at the time. Besides, his wife's name is Margaret.

his first wife, Cindy, was widely rumored to be sleeping around. most notably with rafael palmeiro, who was subsequently traded.

Maybe MacPhail wanted Dusty gone and Hendry said no, and that got to Dusty?
I think it's more likely the other way around. MacPhail is Hendry's boss, so he therefore has the authority to fire Dusty himself if Hendry balked.

It would most likely point to a showdown between Dusty Backers and players who didn't want Dusty anymore. Think about it. There were some strange moves this season like Wuertz being left in Iowa and Restovich also. Walker finally being moved and Maddux's odd comments. Z & some other pitchers were vague about their support of Dusty but other players flatly offered undeniable support (Lee & Eyre & Dempster)Now add Nevin. It wouldn't suprise me if there was a huge split in the clubhouse and there was a tun of akwardness.

It is possible that Hendry wanted Baker gone but MacPhail or the Trib said no.

That's what I meant when I said maybe the other way around. Hendry's bosses may have been unwilling to eat the remainder of Dusty's contract.

Quite possible.

Is it possible the coaches didn't get along? Baker and Rothschild may have hated each other for all we know and their bickering may have help split this team.

Doesn't jive with Rothschild coming back this year. Doesn't make much sense when talking about personal issues either, as that's a direct team issue.

I think that personal issues could be a dislike between a manager and a pitching coach that was forced on him. Rothschild had to know that Baker may be gone after this year and thought he hadd a chance to be the head guy if Baker was let go around the break. You may be right Goony but something about these two guys relationship has always bothered me.

It's seemed odd to me as well. But Larry coming back makes it really hard for me to think they hated each other.
