Zambrano said Eismont agreed with the diagnosis of Cubs team physician Stephen Gryzlo that the problem was with the L5 disk.

"I don't know what that means," Zambrano said. "I just know how to pitch -- I don't know nothing about medicine."

What he does know is that he needs to continue to do his back exercises to avoid spasms.

"You can't be lazy with your exercises," Zambrano said. "If you're lazy with your exercises, this will happen."

Neither Eismont or Gryzlo have said that they have a problem with Zambrano's weight.

"[Eismont] said I have big bones," Zambrano said. "I need to get my abs stronger and that's it. I need to do my exercises. That's it."

According to a Cubs.com article he'll be pitching in a game soon maybe this weekend.

Z's all good.

He been showing up in really good shape at spring training. He seems to pack on some weight as the season progresses.

I suppose there's nothing that can be done about that. :| Which seems odd, since he seems very motivated in the off-season.

If you offered me the chance to spend a year following any athlete in any sport, my first 5 choices would all be Carlos Zambrano.

I'm guessing he's indulging in room-service munchies on the road. I'd be huge if I were in hotels half the summer with unlimited funds for takeout food and pay-per-view movies.

You don't burn too many calories in a home run trot.

What about wen he is legging out infield hits and then later that inning stealing bases? God Z is like a modern day Babe Ruth.

This Zambrano running talk made me think about one thing: Zambrano's triple against St. Louis last year. They still have a highlight of the triple on mlb.com. Just click on 'Top Plays' and click on 'Zambrano RBI triple'.
