I think Pierre will get 3\21 and Ramirez will get 5\75. The Dodgers are going to inflate Ramirez's contract.

i really don't think that ramirez will get 15 mil per, i really don't. the dogers might inflate his asking price a bit, but i'm not worried that we won't match it, we're already planning on paying him like 11 mil, right? what's another couple of mil to keep one of your best hitters?

I also didn't believe that Furcal can get 13 million per year, but he did...

Bynum and Pagan are not FAs, are they?

I don't know, that's why I put the ?. I should have just asked like you did to avoid confussion.

I think they're both just arby eligible. I hope I'm right, but I have a feeling that only Pagan will be with us next year.

Back to your original post...

Mabry -- 1 / 750K

Blanco -- 1 / 1.5M

Ramirez -- 5 / 65 (Cubs)

Pierre -- 4 / 36

Wood -- 1 / 3 + incentives (Cubs)

Miller -- 1 / 2.5 (Cubs)

I definitely wouldn't mind bringing Wood back if that was the deal he signed but I think somebody else (Yankees) will offer him another year and more guaranteed money.

And, for this year anyway, it was probably a good move by the Dodgers.

According to BP's stats, a SS who adds 6.2 wins is worth $11.75 million. Furcal has been good for 6.9 so far, and the season isn't over yet.

There was a minority that believed the Dodgers made a smarter offer than the Cubs; the Dodgers might be paying more per year than the Cubs offered, but they're paying less overall, and they're getting what should be his best remaining years.

I agree I couldn't understand why the Cubs wouldn't match it??? I would rather pay more for his prime years...I still think that was a huge mistake. I remember in the Cubs Convention Hendry said 13 million per year is way too much to pay for a leadoff hitter, but the Cubs offered 5/50. 5/50 or 3/39...It's all relative isn't it?

Some say Hendry (and/or the Trib) didn't want to pay Furcal as much per year as they're paying DLee since DLee is a building block for the team. I can't recall whether Hendry actually said something along those lines or not.

He did kind of hinted at that, if I'm not mistaken, but your giving Lee more years.

Ramirez 5/70 (Cubs)

Pierre 4/36 (Nationals)

Wood 2/5 + incentives (Cubs)

Miller 1/2

Blanco 1/1.5

Mabry retire

Guys Cubs will sign

Lugo 4/32 will need new leadoff hitter once Pierre leaves

Mulder 3/15 + incentives

Ted Lilly 3/15

Lofton 1/3

I want no part of Mulder or Lilly but these are moves I can see Hendry making.

I don't think Ramirez will get 15 either. I think what he's looking for is the Cubs to guarantee at least 2 more years, making his currently deal a 4 year contract, instead of 2. I think he'll get a boost from the 11-11.5 area to around 12-13 per, and it's just a matter of how many more years get guaranteed, and/or what kind of option/buyout is added to the end.

If they signed Mulder, I highly doubt it would be for three years, considering his hip and shoulder issues. It would most likely be for one year plus team option for a second season.

I also can't see Lugo getting four years. He'll most likely get three from someone though.

2.5 to 3 mil for wood...i hope not. maybe 1-1.5 mil+big incentives...we just gave him 12 mil for 6 innings of work. with all the things we need..i think it would be ridiculous to pay wood anything close to what z and even prior make!

for 3 mil(or a little more) sign you know might actually pitch...
