I had a chance to listen to it while I was on the road and one of those guys were totally ripping into the Cubs. It was beautiful, he was saying all the things we have been saying for years now. He even started from 2003 and went on and on. His points were right on, I wish I was home to record for those of you that missed it.

It was the Kap and Waddle Show. David Kaplan was ranting about the Cubs. From the part I heard he had some good points and some bad ones.

- He was calling for wholesale change from Team president to manager.

- He was saying that the orginzational philosphy for pitchers has to be changed because so many young pitchers get hurt in the Cubs system and he says that doesn't seem to happen to other clubs.

- He brought up Dusty's "clogging the bases" quotes about OBP. Rightfully slamming it as ridiculous.

- He ranted about Jaque Jones not being able to hit the cut off man or throw decently. At this point Waddle did pipe up and start saying that Jones has put up some offensive numbers. But Kaplan seemed to discount this because Jones not hitting the cut off man isn't playing "winning baseball".

- He asked why Ronny Cedeno isn't playing 2nd base every day. Kaplan said that when they traded for Isturis that everyone in the cubs management team told him that Cedeno was going to be their 2nd baseman next year. So when Isturis goes down, instead of keeping Ronny at 2nd to learn the position during meaningless games they move him back to short because "it wouldn't be fair to the pitchers".

- He lamented Dusty continuely running out Neifi to play while he was hear instead of young guys like Theriot. In fact he went through each of Theriot's call ups and how many at bats he got during each.

- He said the worst thing for the Cubs was not that Cub fans were picking up the phones and ranting angrily on their radio show every night. It was that most Cub fans had become apathetic about the team which was much worse.

- The overall point he articulated was that the Cubs didn't seem to have any orginzation wide plan and that they had to get a management team in here with a plan or nothing will change.

I agreed with many of his points but thought some of them were not that signficant. Like the Jaque Jones point. I hate when fielding and "hitting cut off men" is listed as a major reason teams don't win, when that team has much more glaring holes. Sure Jones' throwing is bad, but his .326 OBP and .588 OPS versus lefties is significantly more damaging to the Cubs than the handful of times he has missed a cut off man.

Also I am not sure it is the Cubs orginizational philosphy that is causing young pitchers to get hurt. Sure Dusty has over used Prior, Wood and Zambrano horribly on the major league level. I could be wrong but I doubt the Cubs minor leaguers get any more injured than most major league farm systems.

Was it Will Carroll? He appears on Wednesdays at 7pm on WGN with the Sports Central guys.

You're right.

I didn't catch all of it, but he was focusing on the fact that Cubs management doesn't have a plan (everyone here knows that). They referenced the 'base-clogging/OBP' quote and as expected stated that is was a comment that made no sense. He said that everyone in baseball (except Jim Hendry maybe) is aware that Dusty isn't a good on field manager and that management owes it to the fans to come out and tell them what their plan is both in the short term and long term. Doubt it will happen, but it would be nice.

Crash, you are the man, that's exactly what I heard yesterday. I agreed with everything he said. The other guy that was with him told him he was making it personal when he started ending everything with "dude". It was great.

I noticed this when I went to Wrigley for the Tigers series. It was the worst I had ever seen it. I hope that feeling turns into reduced ticket sales if this offseason winds up like I imagine it will.

I plan on attending the Cubs convention the day Hendry is speaking.

My goal is to ream him for what he has done to this team.

I would be great if some others joined.

I've gone 4 straight years and I'm going again this year. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

I hope you're successful, having never attended a Cubs convention, I was wondering if serious Baseball is discussed or are Hendry and Co. just hit with a bunch of meaningless vanilla questions? Garbage like - Who gets to choose the game day jersey?, etc.

Last year there where people from Blog sites and they asked some alright questions. Why can't we ever score from 3rd with less then 2 outs. Why we don't bunt? Why is Rich Hill untouchable? Why are our fundamentals so bad? Stuff like that...When Dusty first took the mic there were people booing him last year. In person Dusty has a lot of charisma and is pretty darn likeable, too bad he sucks at a manger...

He started ranting first about the medical staff saying that all these picthers come up here and within weeks they are on the DL. He also ranted that once they are on the DL they fall off the face of the world and he said in not so many words to stop lying about all the injuries and the return dates

You wouldve had to listen to him rant about jones before, there was just the latest thing. I agree with EVERYTHING he says though, Jones plays sloppy baseball, getting caught off second a few times, throwing the ball all over the place cost us a lot of runs possibly, and he said it perfectly, "its not like Jacque jones scares anyone"

a handful of times? it happens at least 2 times a week, and there is absolutley no excuse at getting doubled off a base more than 2 times in a yaer, jacque is on what now, 6 or 7 after yesterday

This is all Hendry's fault with his stupid "he can catch the ball" bs. If I hear that one more time out of his mouth I don't know what I'll do. It's ridiculous!

Not to excuse Jones but, I wonder how much of this sloppy play is a function of Dusty' not holding veterans accountable for they're poor play approach? Has anyone seen Jones play as Twin? From what little I've seen of Twins they play smart, alert Baseball.

I've gotta say his rant about Jones is justified. If you look at the big picture, why does our team put up with an everyday outfielder who throws like a drunk little-leaguer? It costs the teams several runs a month as is, but in a well-scouted playoff game teams would take extra bases on him all the time. An owner like Steinbrenner wouldn't put up with it. You would either have the entire staff working with him until he stopped spiking it into the ground, or make him a platoon guy who doesn't play right field in close games.

oh ya also

he talked about the cash cow going away and that Hendry and MacPhail need to get in touch with the real fan because its only a matter of time before their cash cow is gone away. he brought up that areas right around the cell are about to go boom (as in property value sky rocket) and young fans now are going to go and watch a winning team. he said the white sox took the risk to change how they played and won, the cubs dont even bother trying
