I just thought it was interesting that the Cubs were ranked as the 3rd biggest disappointment. I also thought it was good to hear some more national media criticize the cubs.

The strategy to build around the injury-prone Wood and Prior finally will have to stop. What's more, they need to move out of the dark ages and buy a stat book or two. No team disregards on-base percentages like the Cubs -- their .319 mark is a league low -- which might explain why they surrendered a haul for Juan Pierre and still thought Neifi Perez was a star.

The Cubs are by far the biggest dissapointment in baseball.

Show me a team with a 95 million dollar payroll that is a bottom 5 team in baseball.

The Cubs and Jim Hendry are failures.

I'd be happy to pitch in a little money to help buy a stat book for Hendry if he can't afford one. :D

good point..I mean, if we had Angal Pagan for the entire season, thats a whole new ballgame.

Can't believe that you didn't catch this tidbit in that column:

When Neifi Perez replaced injured Tigers second baseman Placido Polanco, he took the spot of a boyhood friend from Santo Domingo. Oddly, Polanco names Rubby Perez, Neifi's brother, as his favorite singer.

Pagan by himself wouldn't have been enough. Now if we also include Bynum, that's a horse of a different color. :D

While, I can't argue with the Cubs being the biggest disappointment in baseball, I have to go with Cleveland as baseball's biggest disappointment, and here's why:

Their talent level, is much higher then the Cubs (eveyrbody knew before the season, Hendry buiilt a 4th/5th place team), at a lower cost. They were predicted by most pundits to be the serious threat to the White Sox, not the Tigers or the Twins, and the Indians failed miserably. So, I will say the Indians have been a bigger disappointment.

Horse **excrement** of a different color, you mean.

Agreed for the same reasons you stated. I would put the Indians first and the Cubs second on the list of biggest disappointments.

angels, red sox, braves, phillies - all bigger disappointments than the cubs I think. probably the astros too and in some sense the cardinals. the brewers were quite a flop too though they seemed more like a trendy pick.

The cardinals are in first place. I dont care. They can suck it.

We are one of the bottom 5 teams in baseball and our payroll is almost a hundred million.
