Pretty good weekend for some of our key players:

 

-Mikey B scoring twice in a Derby game.

-Clint notching an assist and playing strong in FFCs 1st away win this season. Fulham have a shot at Europa Cup play

-Howard, again.

-Boca is playing well for Rennes.

-Adu actually made the bench for the 1st time in forever for Monaco (still needs out though)

 

But frickin Xeres keep sitting Jozy, and their coach offered up some b.s. about his training habits as the reason. You have to think Villarreal are pissed that they didn't loan him out to Everton, where he would have actually seen important minutes.

Dude, this Freddy Montero is a fun little player. Big diver, but fun, fun player. Quick, agile, technical, great passer and lethal finisher. Kind of Landonesque.

 

I love MLS unabashedly, I'd rather watch an MLS game than any other league, and I love seeing great, young talent in the league. Usually the only good, young talent MLS gets is American. It's cool to get a foreign international in his early twenties play in the league.

The top half of the draw is brutal and you have to feel bad for Bayern. You get Barcelona first and if you survive that, you get either Liverpool or Chelsea after.

 

I'm thinking Man U gets out of the bottom half and then either Liverpool (leaning towards them) or Barcelona out of the top half.

EJ has been in better form for Cardiff. The problem is that Bradley is mistaking form for quality. EJ isn't quality. What's more, do you really want to take a chance at shattering his slowly rebuilt confidence by featuring him in a WCQ and having him suck? Because if he sees the field, he will suck.

 

He shouldn't be a 'Nat. He should be like the 7th option at striker. Maybe.

 

I like that my guy Jon Spector is on the roster. Good for him finally getting healthy.

agreed, i've always thought spector could be a solid contributor but he can't seem to stay on the pitch at the club level. i'm a little surprised he's been added to the roster because the west ham website says he's only made 4 appearances this year since coming back from injury in november.

Roy Hodgson made smart subs today. Kamara and Gera for Zamora and Deuce were well timed. Clint had food poisoning and was a little off all day, and Zamora sucks. The extra bit of pace helped open up the 10 man United.

 

Of course, the paranoid US fan in me says Gera's goal might cut into Dempsey's PT.

I'm watching the Dynamo v Crew game on my dvr right now.

 

After being glued to my set this past Thursday watching a crowd in Seattle that makes Old Trafford look like an f#*@&ing church and experiencing it via ESPN's HD production I have to say I'm embarassed at what FSC is putting out right now. It's unwatchable.

 

Firstly, Seattle is a field turf stadium, and that's not ideal, but this Houston field situation is a joke. Are they playing on a beach with a grass problem? It's too bad to be a field with a sand problem. Every step, every kick, every time the ball lands...a puff of sand shoots up. People are sliding and falling while fast players like Robbie Rogers, Corrie Ashe and Stuart Holden can't use their speed without risking an injury or just falling on their ass. It's pathetic.

 

Secondly, this FSC production is embarrassing. It's grainy, dark and too far off the field. I'm getting all nostalgic for watching game film with my buddies on our high school's public access channel. The only difference is the quality of our high school productions was a little better. F#&@ing amateur hour this nonsense is. Not to mention, the pbp guy is a buffoon. At least I like Brian Dunseth's color. I could be biased due to his affiliation with http://www.theoriginalwinger.com though. Nah, I think he's good.

 

I'm going to watch Chivas v Rapids next. I'll let you know if it's any better.

Btw, keep a head's up for Kenny Cooper's goal against the Fire today. Coop doesn't get called up and responds by scoring from behind the midfield line, and the keeper wasn't even that far off his line.

Colorado is one of the worst teams in MLS. That game was crap.

 

And the field was a real issue in the early game, along with the crowd that showed up somewhere around the 60th minute.
