West Tenn clinging to their 1-0 lead into the 8th.

Atlee in as RP.

Gallagher's line: 7IPs, 0R/ER, 3H, 5K/4BB, 9GO-5FO, ERA -> 2.44

Good outing for Sean, still would like to see those walks a bit lower. But he, like Donnie Veal, seems to be doing really well despite the walk rates.

Ron was talking about seeing Gallagher and Veal on the team to start next season. That'd be a hell of a 1-2 punch in a minor league rotation.

Great game. Can afford a few walks if you don't let em hit you! Nice to see those GOs too. To me, he and Veal are neck and neck. I can see Sean being a solid #2 in this league.

Man, if Veal and Gallagher both make it to the majors as productive starters, what a coup that would be.

Huseby gave up a run in the second inning on a leadoff single, a steal and two groundouts.

2 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 2 BB.

Mesa scored a run in the bottom of the 2nd, they're up 3-1 after 2. And they haven't gotten a hit yet.

Mesa is up 3-1 in the bottom of the 4th. No strikeouts is certainly disappointing.

Chris Huseby's night is over, his final line: 3 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 2 BB, 0 K.

Marco Carrillo is now in and has thrown a shutout inning.

How do you follow the Mesa games? Is it by boxscore?

Nope, imagination.

Then Huseby struck out everyone.

As far as I'm concerned he was hitting 142 with his fastball.

And has a 100 mph outlaw curve. :D

Yeah, I'm following by boxscore.

He wasn't taken out for a reliever, he just shifted positions.

They don't want to lose his bat in the lineup ... or, uh, actually, they want to get his bat in the lineup.

Marco Carrillo has really impressed me so far with his K/BB numbers (currently at 30/7 over 34.2 IP). He'll turn 20 in February, meaning he's on track in terms of his age.

Does anyone know much about him stuff-wise?

Mesa's now up 8-1 in the middle of the 6th. Marco Carrillo has struck out 5 in 2 shutout innings.

Drew Rundle is 0 for 1 with 2 HBPs. Cliff Andersen is 1 for 3 with an RBI single and a strikeout.

No clue. I know craig was asking about him, he definitely isn't getting the hype in terms of stuff or age that Bernard, Ceda, Dolis, and Hernandez are getting, but I haven't seen anything about him.

Double-A West Tenn's Sean Gallagher allowed three hits over seven scoreless innings to win Sunday.

Gallager, 20, is 7-3 with a 2.44 ERA, 61 H and 74/50 K/BB in 73 2/3 IP since moving up to the Southern League. The Cubs have more experienced young pitchers to look at in September, so Gallagher probably won't get a callup. However, he could be a rotation candidate by the end of 2007. Aug. 21 - 2:12 pm et

It was Gallagher's 3rd win in 3 starts vs Huntsville.

Is Gallagher still throwing 93 - 95 mph on average? Haven't heard a report on his stuff since he has been promoted to West Tenn.

Was he ever throwing 93-95 on average? I thought he's been 90-93 most of the time.

I have no idea. I'm not lucky enough to get the chance to see him pitch this year. Earlier this year several articles or blurbs have stated that his velocity had increased quite a bit over the offseason. Most of the articles stated that he was throwing in the low to mid 90's and has been clocked in the upper 90's on rare occasion.

I figured since we have members (including the DJAXX broadcaster) on the board, someone could give us an update on his stuff, velocity and otherwise. :D
